Who hasnt had DPF problems

Featured Replies

1.6 tdi CR, just 1 year old and 17.000 kms (had it for 5 months and put 11.000 on it myself) and no issues. never even seen the light come on (crossed fingers it keeps like that).

No point fearing it, you either assume it may happen or you sell the car and go petrol (I remember this discussion many years back when the catalytic converters became compulsory on petrol cars) . It is a relatively new thing so it may go wrong, just live with it. Changing the whole car because that can go wrong I believe will be a lot more expensive than replacing the DPF if/when it comes to it.

All brands are in the same boat, so it is not only VAG group cars.

Never had a light but have had numerous active regens, at the most 1 per tank. Doesnt affect MPG or performance the way I drive it. Car does 5 miles each way commute each day, 5 days a week and doesn't move at the weekend usually. Once or twice a month gets a 50 mile drive.

2008 PD140 (Scout) now on 84k miles and only had the light on twice but went out quickly when the revs were raised. Mainly 40 mile round trip daily to work which is 50/50 country roads to town, plus the odd motorway trip.

Now on 108k and have seen the light a couple more times, but still cleared easily enough.
