Can I do it myself!

Featured Replies

Hello Everyone,

Im relavitly new to this website and have just had my Fabia (Fabia 1 2008) serviced (badly) in Manchester. There are a number of thing that need to be done and I was wondering how difficult it would be for me to do it myself with a Haynes manual and Youtube :)

I need to change the spark plugs, pollen filter, air filter and top up the coolant.

Is this difficult and if I can do it are there any brands/models you recommend There's a Euro car parts near me so I can pop down there tomorrow and do it.

Thanks for your help,

Joe.

Those are all pretty straight forward jobs really.

Just be gentle when putting the spark plugs in so as not to damage the threads and check the gap prior to installing them.

Otherwise, go for it.

Hello KBPhoto,

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. how can I take advantage of this discount, is there a code?

Also what specific tools would I need other than the basics? I.e for checking gap etc? Please bear in mind I have never done this before :)

Kind regards,

Joe.

A Haynes Skoda Fabia manual is a must, it helps greatly on basic maintenance.

What is the size / type of engine?????

If you order online you can use the code 'BRISK25' to get a 25% discount of most items.

In theory the spark plugs should be already adjusted to suit the vehicle for which you are purchasing them. However, it is good practice to check and adjust of necessary. Try

for beginnings.

Thanks for the help. My engine is a 1.2 petrol. Also, i have tried to get my hands on a haynes manual but they only seem to do one for fabias up to 2006 but not for my 2008? Can I use a 2006 manual for my new model?

Thanks,

Joe.

If it's a Fabia MKI or a facelifted MKI then yes you can use the Haynes manual for Fabias up to 2006!
