Yep mine smokes/ steams like a train. It's leaving lots of oily residue on the cam cover/ engine bay which is annoying. Need to rethink it..

Cheers.

I'm thinking about ditching the catch can and going with just the pipe under the car. I'm just worried about it smoking that much and people thinking my car is on fire with the smoke/steam coming out from under the car.

A few pics i took today after getting the car cleaned and thinking i need to take a recent picture that isn't on the back of an AA van. :)

Looks good buddy. Love the colour coded handles.

I have never owned a car for more than three years! You have kept it nice and tidy.

I've tried. Not helped when you create a dent in the wing, get some little git using your passenger door as target practice for his pellet gun and take out a road work sign, causing it to make a dent between the rear passenger door and wheel arch but i've sorted the wing out, just need to get the pellet holes filled and sprayed and sort out the other bits as and when i can. :)

Trying to keep her going as long as possible and i think that's a reason why i decided to get more hands on in the last 1-2 year(s) with repairs and work that needs to be done. :)

Cheers.

I had thought about that too. Before I got the catch can I only had an old dog food can and a hose. Still had a bit of steam but no mess.

I might stuff the catch can with some more sponge or something and run the pipe work back to the inlet. Should make it a little cleaner at least

That is a possibility and will ease the steam issue. I'm not sure what will be best, so may just leave it until i work something out.

**** John, hadnt seen you had this trouble with the gasket etc. Hope its all fixed and ok now though?

The "smoke" from the filter on the elephant mod is oil vapour from the crankcase, the pd diesels are known to breathe heavily which is why the inlet gets caked in crap. If you run the pipe down to the chassis area then youll end up with the chassis of the car covered in oily residue eventually.I would fill the catch tank with steel wool and see if that helps it.

Seems to be all running okay now, cheers.

Main test will be when i next head to Stourbridge, which might be this weekend.

Catch can has already got steel wool in it but could always pack a bit more in there.

Couldn't have done it without Mattievrs and Korban running their threads and Rob Clubley doing a thread/website as well. :)

Thanks to PastyBoy for the badges and Mattievrs for doing the armrest cover for me.

How do these centre cap badges work then? Did you just stick them over a set of existing centre caps?

I bought some blank centre caps off eBay and stuck the badges on the top.

Definitely jealous of the armrest! :)

I believe it was only the 2nd one created by Mattievrs, who sold the original and then created a one-off leather armrest. :)

Need to clean it up though. Hadn't realised just how messy it looked until after i fitted it. :(

Looks great. The new badges are cool. You do need to co-ordinate your calipers though :p
