I've already connected it using a connector block and cleared the faults. All was well for about a month but it's come back on tonight. :(

I'm wondering whether the cold has gotten into the connection and if i clear the faults again, it will be back to normal. I think in the long run, replacing the wire will be a better solution than keep clearing codes but open to better suggestions to keeping the wires connected and dry. :thumbup:

solder it! :)

solder it! :)

Will that work without causing any other problems??

Shouldn't be a problem

some times and according to Skoda's recommendations it can put a high resistance in the wire but as long as you have basic skills with a soldering iron shouldn't be a problem ive not had any problems at all and i've done can bus wires which are apparently the worst ones to solder :) basically its very hard to mess up and if it does go wrong well.. your looking at getting a new one anyway :)

get charlie (dark_hero) to do it he is good with a soldering iron :) (just offering out your services here charlie! ;))

Cheers guys, might give that a try or ask Charlie to try his soldering skills. :thumbup:

I'm not the best when it comes to wiring but I'll have a go at it if you need me too :)

Cheers Dark_Hero. :thumbup:

I've got another problem i need to sort out as well. It seems that since taking the bumper off to replace the wing, the headlights have come a little loose as they seem to bounce up and down, just a tiny amount but noticeable, when i go over slight bumps. Everything was tightened when i replaced them, so seems odd that taking the bumper off would cause this but it's the only thing i can think of, unless of course the bulbs are loose..

Ill help you fit eibachs buddy! Couldnt be any closer! Did mine 6months ago. Got spring compressers too. :-)

Cheers Pete. :thumbup:

It won't be for a few months at the very least but good to know there's a couple of people willing to help out. :)

Did you change your dampers or anything else when you put Eibachs on??

Yeah koni dampers. Apparently eibachs springs on theyre own aint that great. Im just fitting a larger washer tank....bumper off:)

  • Author

Cheers, i'll get some of those while i'm at it as well. :thumbup:

I've seen a few people fitting the larger washer bottle. B)

Just an update on the dash lights. Scanned it and cleared the codes but dash lights remained on, so will have to get the car jacked up and check the connections again next weekend when i'm back in Stourbridge.

Can test drive mine for ride comfort ect to see if your happy before you buy if ya like, STILL aint got mine remapped! Lol! Keep buying expensive bike bits:-/

Cheers, will take you up on that. Will get something organised at some point. :thumbup:

Just looked on eBay at the dampers, can't believe how expensive they are!!! :o

Aye i know! Big bucks mate, put a wanted on here. You could fit coilovers for about the same! Got mine from alexvrs for 200 i seem to remember.

I think i'll be hanging on for quite a while, unless i can pay monthly via Demon-Tweeks, Eibachs and Bilstein B8's for about £750 but only works out to £23.50 a month for 3 years!! ;):D

I went for the kw fixed shock and spring combo from dpm performance for about £450 in total.

Gives a 25mm drop and totally improved the handling :)

Cheers, i've just always heard good things about Eibachs and always wanted to get a set, so i've pretty much set my mind on getting those and might just run on standard dampers, etc until i can save up to get a decent set. :thumbup:

Sounds good. Dpm also do the bilstein b4 shocks for £175.

Not sure if they'll be as good

I'm not too sure myself, so i'll do some research on those as well. I've read that the B8's and Eibach combo are very good, which is why i'm thinking of going that route. :thumbup:

Things i'd like to do when finances allow or parts become available:

  • Change seats to Mk2 Fabia vRS or something else equally dark but not leather;
  • Eibachs and Bilstein B8's;
  • Rear parking sensors;
  • Replace mats;
  • Replace centre air vents;
  • Fix door leaks;
  • Refurb alloy wheels;
  • Replace heater motor;
  • Replace ABS/ASR wiring on front right;
  • Replace passenger front door or fill and spray holes created by a pellet gun (Got the bits to do it);
  • Rear electric windows (Bought the switches, just need to get the wiring, window regulators, motors, etc) - On Hold;
  • Lower Car (Eibachs and Bilstein B8's);
  • Better Intercooler;

Already got some or all of the below bits, just need to do them:

  • Fit centre armrest (Already got the armrest);
  • Replace front ashtray for cup holder (Already got the part);
  • Middle rear headrest (Got the headrest, just need to read up on how best to do it);
  • Respray rear spoiler;
  • Colour-code door handles and/or remove bump strips (Some colour-coded handles on the way);
  • Fill and spray 1 or 2 little dents in bodywork (Got the bits to do it);
  • Fit front mudflaps;
  • Replace exhaust for another one (Already got);
  • Fit interior lights in rear (Got the light units, just need to get wiring);
  • Replace passenger wing mirror cover;
  • Front splitter;
  • Replace heater resistor;

I think that's about it so far. Lots of little jobs there but finding the parts for a decent price and trying not to spend too much in one go is delaying everything over a longer period of time. I think i need to change jobs to something much better paid to be able to afford all of this. :D
I also know the rear electric windows will be a right pain in the backside but it's something more long term planned and something i'm going to need to fall lucky in finding a Fabia Elegance being broken with the bits i need and then finding someone with car electric skills that can wire it all in. :sweat:

Hopefully the handles will get done this weekend, as long as the drivers door handles arrives before then but i have got a scuffed one just in case. :) Also, i'll hopefully get my catch can mod done as well. :)

Brilliant. I was going to say you've only got 3 handles lol

Will need to finish my catch can too
