It does and it also means i can take my time spraying up the metal badge properly for possible use in the future. B)

Badge stuck on but doesn't appear to like the plasti-dip metalizer, so may have to superglue it on. :)

Take care that the clue doesn't react with the vinyl badge, be a shame to ruin them. I used some super glue on some once and it penetrated the vinyl and left like damp marks through the gel.

Cheers. I might look into different options before glue then. I'm just not sure what will work with the plasti-dip metalizer.

If its plastidip John why not just run a scalpel or similar around the inside of the badge recess and just peel the plastidip off that section leaving the badge free to be stuck to the original chrome underneath?

Either that or I've got a roll of industrial strength double sided tape :)

I did toy with that idea last night but i'm a bit concerned about ruining the rest of the plasti-dip (i'm accident prone as my cam cover shows :D).

I might take you up on the industrial strength double sided tape though. :)

3 mins 20 into this looks pretty fool proof to me.

He doesn't even score the edge...

I'll make sure that the roll of tape is in the car for Combe

Cheers. Can't see the video at work but i'll take a look at home later.

I think i would rather stick it over the top though and will only consider cutting if the double sided tape doesn't work as well.

Thanks for the offer of taking some tape to Combe but i'm hoping to get it done before then.

Thanks for your efforts Pasty.

That looks superb mate :) are you gonna plastidip the number plate surround to match?

I was actually thinking about that a few days ago but i haven't got enough black plasti-dip and when i was looking a couple of weeks ago, the spray has become quite rare. I thought about doing that and maybe the fog surrounds but i'm going to leave it for now and concentrate on getting the bits i've bought, but done nothing with finished, such as the armrest and rear interior lights.

I'm hoping Combe will be productive with getting my Blackvue wired into the dash and having the holes cut for the lights as well, thanks to some helpful members on here.

The only thing to do for the lights is to source the correct wiring and get it all soldered up. :)

I'm also hoping to get the rear Pasty badge put on this weekend but, as its my brothers birthday on Friday, it depends if we're doing any family things.

Plans sound good. How are you hard wiring the black vue?

I'm not too sure but someone on here (James I???) offered to wire it in at Combe, i just had to buy a couple of bits to help do it. :)

Had a little play with the great editing programme, 'Paint':

Not sure if i should try to change the 'v' to the same or similar colour green to the Pasty badge. It is getting shown up a little as being quite a dull green but then i'm not sure if the above will be too in your face.

No pics but finally managed to get the cam/rocker cover changed over and also bought the bits needed to finish my rear interior lights. :)

Can't wait until Combe now so i can get the holes for the lights cut and my Blackvue hardwired in. :)

Just come across this thread today, the fabia looks great vRS19TD. You've done some good mods too.

I've had my silver vrs for a few weeks now and am looking to do some of the mods you've done. Hope you don't mind if I ask a few questions.

How did you get the front grille surround off? Have ordered some black plastidip myself :)

And where did you get the new style vrs badge you've got on your front grille?

Thanks for the help :)

  • Author

The easiest way to get the chrome surround off is to remove the whole grill and pry off the chrome surround from behind. There's a thread somewhere, i'll see if i can find it.

edit: Here it is... http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/270990-chrome-grill-removal-advice/page__fromsearch__1

Also, i ordered the front badge via Skoda, just ask them to order a badge for a vRS they have in stock because i originally asked for the new style vRS badge, gave them my details and they ordered the mk1 badge.

Okay dude, thanks for the link. I'll have a go at it when the plastidip and new Pastyboy badges turn up :)

I just had a quick look on skodaparts and they have got them.

Going to attempt the catch can mod but just vent to atmosphere instead.

Good luck with it and make sure to get a Project Thread going if you haven't already.

Thanks man :)

I am going to start a Project Thread tomorrow I think, although I haven't got much to go in there yet.

How did it get back mate? Looked like the clouds of white/blue smoke were being exhausted though from where we were standing, hope it's just that rocker gasket though :)

It didn't get back unassisted unfortunately. :(

Currently sat in an AA van being towed back. Engine is still running fine, it's just pishing oil out over almost everything.

Aw mate I'm sorry to see that :( really hope it's just that gasket.

Unlucky mate. Hope you get it sorted ok. Sorry I didn't get a chance to say hello yesterday
