Thanks to Briskoda for answering a few questions regarding my latest purchase:

1.2 64bhp Skoda Fabia 1 Classic

For the last three years I've suffered a French heap:

2.0 Diesel, 7 seats, electric doors - all the toys - but mechanically an absolute nightmare, made worse by the amount of engine access:

In three years here's the list of expenses - Bought 2009 for £6,000. 2010 Cam Belt snapped, spent a year on the front garden while waiting for Citroen argued as C8's were dying well before the 100,000 interval for cam change (mine went at 77,000). In 2011 £1800 to replace cam belt and repair engine - not with Citroen, any Citroen Dealer was over double that. On top of that £400 for new tyres and a battery as standing on grass had killed tyres and battery had died. Then in 2012 went into limp home mode as turbo charger died - got a quote of £1200 for the probable repair, but couldn't guarantee that was the final bill. So in 3 years would have cost me in excess of £9,000 in just running costs. Enough was enough and with a daughter turning 17 next year needed a smaller car for her to learn to drive in, so traded in for £1,000 against my first Skoda.

I'm hoping for less running costs than the Citroen - road tax, insurance have halved and fuel has dramatically dropped.

Few little things I want to do with the Skoda as it hasn't got central locking, electric windows, spare key or a light in the boot, also the rear wash wipe doesn't work - all of which I've found listed on the site.

So hello and thanks for the help so far, impressed by the site and Skoda
