Makes you think you're better off going to a main dealer , paying a little more but getting the job done properly

Nope, main dealers are useless mate. I had a Mazda 6 (most reliable used car you can buy, apparently) that gave me no end of massive, expensive engine trouble. I had to replace the turbo, the crankshaft, the clutch and flywheel, the big end bearings, recalibrate the injectors (twice) and more, and it still wasn't right when I got rid. I took it to the main dealer and they said that A) they had no idea what was wrong with it because the diagnostic machine wasn't saying anything, and B ) if it was anything to do with injection they hadn't got the kit necessary to fix it anyway. I couldn't believe it, but the main dealer genuinely doesn't have the tools it needs to fix the cars it sells. So don't think for a minute that you'll do better at a main dealer.

That said, I think there are supposed to be some good Skoda dealers about. Not in Bristol though. They're useless and quite unpleasant to deal with.

having heard from a few friends who have worked for bmw audi etc, they say you are actually worse off sometimes to go there, the work they do is all timed and rush jobs, my car said it had filters replaced etc etc at skoda dealer, checked the pollen was clogged with crap and my friend who did the service out of work hours.. ;) said the fuel filter looked like it had never been done!

Bad luck with that one, I can sypathise with you. Got mine a few months ago after getting tired of filling my 325 up every other day

It pulled to the left, was obviously not camber or tyres as they kept telling me, took it to an alignment specialist and they diagnosed bent rear axle, to be fair to the garage they put a new axle and bushes on which sorted the problem and now its as good as new.
