If the electrics go on the driver's side...

This is in case any other Yeti driver suffers from this unusual factory fault.

One night I found that the little red LED on the drivers door was still flashing, even though we were moving. I then found that the electric window switches in the door were not working. At the destination, I found that the remote control key was not locking the driver's door, nor the driver side passenger door. This did not seem to be a fuse fault, as fuses do not generally control different sides of a car. This was all on a Saturday night, and I did not want to leave the car unlocked (the rear nearside passenger door) for a day and 2 nights, before I could get to a garage. (Studying the manual, I found that the doors can be manually locked by turning a small slot set into the doors, under a plastic cap.)

Anyway, at the garage, the chief mechanic knelt and opened a panel set into the bodywork between the door and the car. Obviously this had happened before on skodas. This is where the wires from the door controls run to the main control/circuit/fuses etc...and two of the wires were broken! There was the cause, fraying through the opening and closing of the door. On collecting the car, he told me that the wires had not been seated properly at the factory. (On original delivery, I had a whistling offside door mirror, which was due to bad installation.) So it seems more attention is still needed on the production line....
