Octavia vRS

The sound of most cars can be quite easily modified to suit your ears. :)

Not a four cylinder one - not for my ears any way.

  • Can't see that anyone has posted this yet, so though I'd pop it up. New video out today.  I noticed I was the second view.   Have to say, it looks good.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WbzoVrIZ

  • Can you not take this to a new thread. I'm subscribed on here for mkiii vrs updates. Not the age old argument of diesel vs petrol. Christ you'll be slagging off macs and pc's next :(

  • I will never understand those that defend their own car make by slagging other makes off. OK, if you've had a particularly bad experience with a certain car make, tell the story, etc. but don't sugge

Slightly OT apologies but touching on a previous thread in this thread: Latest Autocar test with the AMG Merc, the 135i and the Golf GTI (since the R32 is not out yet).

http://www.carscoops.com/2013/06/mercedes-a45-amg-easily-beats-bmw-m135i.html

135i way last for body control! Ha. In quite a few tests the 135i is rated more as a GT cruiser than a hot hatch of note. And that is before you discuss the hideousness of what it looks like.

Let's hope the vRS has some of the GTI's handling charms transferred to it.

Sorry but a rather pointless group test. The Golf is a cracking car but its completely outclassed by the BMW and Merc because its front wheel drive and 100hp short power wise, also doesnt represent good value for money like the BMW does. The Merc is 38k basic and they'll be offering no discounts on them so you're looking at 4k+ more minimum for in reality little additional performance.

Makes me laugh the comments on the F20 1-er being really ugly...yes its not pretty exactly but in M sport form it has purpose and its not dull like a Golf

Hubba Hubba! VRS Estate goodness! Seats look nice, not sure the 6 year old in the back will appreciate no forward vision through the usual gap under the head restraint now its gone! :( Nice looking car overall. :)

Must visit the dealer. These pictures arent good enough :)

You can all skip the Goodwood and come visit our country. Cold beer is waiting ;)

**** the bed that looks good!

The angle of the first picture makes it look really aggressive. Love it!

Give me that in white and I'll chop the Superb in

Nice and a good evolution of the current vRS. Dig the seats, hate the wheels (must be standard 17s they get in EU but hopefully we wont see here).

Im still reckoning the standard UK spec will include 18s, more or less Elegance spec toy wise but will get Xenons and sporty bits in place of Amundsen nav.

Definitely going to be a colour and wheel sensitive piece of kit though.

......thats something that makes me laugh though SUK are shrouding the car in all sorts of secrecy not announcing anything until the big Goodwood launch when our Slovenian brothers can go and buy a demo vehicle already!

Like the seats - Wheels - wow what a difference. It makes it look so much more deioka. Will be interesting to see if the 17s are standard in the UK. I have a feeling to start with they will to force everyone to spend more on upgrades.

Nice seats, hopefully do non striped versions though!

Needs lowering. :giggle:

Very nice. Like others have said wheels need upgrading.

I think if you take an M135i with sport auto, remapped it with a downpipe, miltek exhaust, intake and bigger intercooler, also got a quaife LSD stuck on the back for 35k or so (talking used car with approx 5k of mods) - knocking on door of 400hp and well over 400lb/ft torque you've got one hell of a hatch.

Yes, but what do you do with the looks? The 1 series has always run the X6 close in BMW's range for being the most ugly and build quality has never been anything to write home about either.

Granted the six pot engines are as sweet as they come and in the right place and right time, rwd allows the engines power to be exploited nicely, but for everyday use or when the weathers poor, my money would go elsewhere - probably RS3. Or if I wanted something special I'd buy a second hand Boxster (the best way to show you can't afford a 911 (or similar), as Clarkson put it).

Back OT, I think the new vRS Estate looks very nice (tho, probably not with the silly wheels). Having just got mine back (from being stolen 6 weeks ago) and having decided I'd keep it for another year, these damned pictures are giving me second thoughts!

Must keep saying to myself; "don't need a new car, shouldn't spend the money, just got the Audi"

"don't need a new car, shouldn't spend the money, just got the Audi"

Aghhhhhhhhhh!!

I order white Octavia Combi rs III. I think the white colour is even better for combi. I order antracit wheels "GEMINI" 18".

Edited by maskoo

those wheels are horrid and what happened to the preview pics they had out of the grille where it was grey/black and not chrome??

love the seats. Is the flat bottomed steering wheel an option?

Those wheels sure look like the winter wheel option... some discarded old Audi alloys from an SE spec. Really not in keeping with the car.

The seats are good looking for the driver and passenger... much less so for the poor blighters behind.

Hope they do non stripe seats too :)

Seats and steering wheel look really great. Twin large exhausts a little bit daft for a 2.0 litre engine though - who is anyone trying to kid?

Interesting to see they've fitted it with the Scout suspension option. Good news for fans of oversized snowchains!

Hopefully the canton stereo option is standard on the vrs as seen in pics, about time it had a sound system upgrade as standard.

@Nick, the car might still be on the delivery suspension "stilts" or however you want to call them. If you look at other pics with VRS side by side with a normal Octi, the VRS is definitely lower than those.

@Timoctav: the GTI has had twin exhausts for ages now, haven't heard anyone complaining about those! :p I think it looks great, and no one in their right mind will ever think the Octavia has some nuclear power-plant under the hood, VRS or not...

@Timoctav: the GTI has had twin exhausts for ages now, haven't heard anyone complaining about those!.....

Yes it has, but not oversize ones. Those tips are reminiscent to those fitted to the Porsche Carrera (non S).

I think you're looking too much into it, Timoctav. And if you look at the full width of the car the tips don't seem to be that large, at least to me anyway. But hey, I don't have a Porsche on my driveway, hehe...

......I don't have a Porsche on my driveway, hehe...

Mine has different exhausts to those.

Each to their own - be dull if we all liked or disliked the same things!

Didn't mean anything by it anyway, I hope you didn't take offense. But yeah, to me personally, I like the VRS exhausts more than the GTI ones, those seem kinda flimsy to me.
