  • Can't see that anyone has posted this yet, so though I'd pop it up. New video out today.  I noticed I was the second view.   Have to say, it looks good.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WbzoVrIZ

  • Can you not take this to a new thread. I'm subscribed on here for mkiii vrs updates. Not the age old argument of diesel vs petrol. Christ you'll be slagging off macs and pc's next :(

  • I will never understand those that defend their own car make by slagging other makes off. OK, if you've had a particularly bad experience with a certain car make, tell the story, etc. but don't sugge

Usually the VRS sits slightly below elegance and above the se.

I think I did originally but towards the end the vRS was more expensive then the elegance,

1.8 elegance hatch £18305 vs petrol vRS hatch £20440 &

2.0CR elegance hatch £19850 vs CR vRS hatch £21260

To be fair, they did increase the spec quite a bit on the VRS during that time.

I know, but with the Octy 3 it looks like the vRS is going to start with a high spec, xenons etc so that price differentialis likely to remain.

I know I had to spec climate, arm rest and electric rear windows on my first vRS, but with the Octy 3 it looks like the vRS is going to start with a high spec, xenons etc so that price differentialis likely to remain.

Yep.

It's looking like you won't get the Amundsen though, and I'd be nervous about dual zone climate being missing too.

Still, not long to wait.

Yeah, that seat is nice! Wish they did the black and white still though... :(

On the german config webpage you can see the "new" colours... yellow and green. No "meteor" grey in sight. There's also a listing of standard equipment and tech specs.

Amundsen is a 1120 Euro option on the vRS.

DSG Combi TDi comes in at £27,632 with no options. Few weeks back I took a pure guess at £28,000, sort of hoped I was going to be wrong ;)

Still, I still don't see this as a final price for UK, SUK may meddle with the final standard configuration, in a few short weeks we'll know for sure.

all will be revealed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 3 weeks time, no doubt....anyone else from here going?

Golf GTi 3 door starts at £25,895 so I guess vRs will start at around £24,500? Depending in whetaver standard kit Skoda UK throw into the mix.

I don't understand how manufacturers can still charge so much for a head unit. The units are normally no better than a unit half the price so all your paying for is the shape of the facia.

Yep. May have a spare ticket too.

I'm there Friday 12th

If you check the german prices, the VRS is actually more expensive than the equivalent GTI/GTD with or without DSG. Crazy, huh?

Perhaps in Germany there is less of a stigma?

Gemini in silver or black best looking wheel IMO. Something I would advise of.....the black version of the Gemini and the xtrem have diamond cut areas.....they are going to be a NIGHTMARE to get repaired and the lacquer will probably give out on them after 6 months or so....be the dark chrome Gigaro issue on the Fabia VRS all over again!

The new seats are bloody nice!

Is there really a Stigma here nowadays?! I don't think its exactly going to be a bargain over here.

I am starting to think along the lines of a white petrol manual estate with the back windows tinted and those 19" Xtrem wheels on.

There absolutely is a stigma here. You're kidding yourself if you think otherwise, not as bad as it was, but still there. This forum itself has a thread devoted to it.

Not me though, I'm on my 4th Octavia and looking for a 5th if the price is right.

Sorry if I missed it, but I have only seen mention of 2 engine choices (admittedly I have only rapidly scanned a couple of threads), 2l diesel and 2l petrol, is that the case or will there be other options ?

Looking at the German spec I'd be fairly happy with that if SUK followed suit. Don't think a part from metallic paint I'd add anything.

That's the two.

Sadly there's a lot of things I'd want that are options.

Tinted glass - 190 euros

Sunroof - 1095

Winter Pack - 500

Canton - 470

Amundsen - 1120

That's almost £3000 of options on top of what's probably a £24k base price for a diesel estate, and I'm not sure I can bring myself to spend that much on an Octavia :(

in which case my ideal spec comes in on the nasty side of 31k!! Doesn't bother me that it'll be showing a Skoda badge on its bonnet. To me its preferable to the current A4 as its on the newer platform which carries with it inherent technical advantages. :)
