average mpg

Featured Replies

Hi all, just wanted to know what average mpg you are all getting from the 60ps engine and what sort of driving are you doing to achieve it? Thanks. Muzzee

  • I've calculated (by fill up method) that the one I drove did 67.1 mpg of pretty much normal driving. Very impressed!

  • Odd that! I find that every single time I crash my car, my insurance premiums go up not down...

Swmbo doesn't drive to try for economy, and never gets less than 52, I have made a big effort on a 40 mile drive once and got 68. .. On average I would say about 55 :)

edit: we currently have winter tyres on instead of the michelin "energy" that came with it, I expect the mpg will be better with the energy tyres on in the summertime ;)

Thank you

Yeah varies but averages out to 55 had 70 worst was like 40 which was literally about 1 1/2 mile

Mine varies. Highest i ever got was a trip from leicester to Skegness (74 mpg) - sometimes on short journeys mid 40's - usually mid 50's - 60.

My son went to manchester airport ,via the woodhead pass, and back home again on the M62, with a full load ,at motorway speeds and over 260 miles averaged 52mpg on his PID.

I'd be happy with anything over 45mpg. Looks promising for when it arrives.

Wife does all round town driving, supermarket runs, school runs etc. PID indicates around 43 MPG

Still better than the 33mpg in the fiat.

Ouch !!

In the 3000 miles I had my Citigo it averaged 57mpg real, not from the computer.

Pretty good considering I tend to drive quite enthusiastically.

Mine is a 60ps Elegance with only 950 miles on the clock, and in the last few days wife and me did a 127 mile return trip. Mixed roads, but most on Motorway at fairly steady 74mph on the first leg for an appointment. The average speed for the complete trip with small amount of city driving was 38.52mph. According to PID 52.31mpg. Cold day...freezing to start and about 6c on the way back.

The single return trip of 59 miles was a bit more leisurely at about 62 mph on the Motorway and an average speed of 43mph. Again according to PID 55.39mpg.

My wife's 60ps ASG (UP!) averages 52-56mpg which includes a lot of inner city driving.

i Drive like a Grandad most of the time - usually get between 57-62 mpg indicated. Best yet was a 90 mile trip to Skegness from Leicester - indicated 74mpg!

I recently fueled up for the third time and got a real-world mpg of 64. The other two tankfulls were 54 and 58. Mixed country roads and motorways, trips of around 25 minutes, winter tyres and temperatures down to below -10 Celsius. Very happy with economy so far! The best MPG indicated by the board computer was 76 on a 15 mile trip!

I went on a little roadtrip this Sunday and did a test of the PID vs. 'real world fill up method'.

Distance: 273km (170 miles) according to PID - half motorway and half mix of highway/town.

The PID / trip computer indicated 21.8 km/l or 62 mpg.

The car used 12.5 liters on the trip: 273km divided by 12.5 = 21.8 km/l or 62 mpg

The PID / trip computer was spot on.

Do you guys have another device to calculate distance or do you rely on the car's trip computer? The correct distance is obviously important in order to calculate mpg.

Interesting that there was no difference between trip computer and real world figures. My real world values seem to be generally ~5-10% higher than the indicated ones.

I have trusted the the trip computer's distance measurements - should be ok as long as we're using wheels with the same circumference as specified by the manufacturer?

Yes, unless they cheat us by telling us we went farther than we actually did - in order to improve economy.

I am sure someone will have compared the PID's GPS distance with the onboard computer distance? I'll try to do a test myself...

Did the same trip yesterday as at my post #13 above and got 57.65 on out trip, much of it at about 60mph on Motorway...average was 37 mph achieved 57.65 mpg. The return trip at about the same speed...average was 47 mph and the return was 60.1mpg. All done from the PID. Temperature was 6-7c.

I thought the PID got its distance info from the car...

I'll have to look into that...

At the mpg some people are getting here if we change my wife's current car for a new one, taking into account, insurance, road tax, breakdown cover, servicing and MOT's the citigo would pay for itself!

It worked for swmbo, she crashed her previous fabia 1.4, and because of the fuel economy, tax, and mostly her insurance , which has halved, the savings go a long way to paying the citygo monthly payments !

Odd that! I find that every single time I crash my car, my insurance premiums go up not down...
