Door handles

Featured Replies

Hi guys

New to the forum so be nice please! :hi:

I am getting a new Fabia monte carlo. Will be my first skoda very excited!!!!

However one tiny tiny little niggle i have noticed is that the interior door handles feel very cheap. Would anyone know if i can get maybe a clip on bit of metal or something which would just make them feel a bit more solid?

Hope that makes sense lol

Thanks

Jack

Hi Jack

Welcome to Skoda ownership and Briskoda

I know what you mean but I have done nothing with mine. However, the was one or two guys who did something to theirs a couple of years ago. Try posting in the Fabia 2 section as you may well get moe luck there and also try the search function which may turn something up.

Enjoy your Monte when it arrives, all the best JT

See the Superskoda website for better looking ones....I might buy some myself if someone who had got them said they were OK.

They do feel like they will eventually snap off, but I don't think it's actually happened to anyone... yet. :whew:

Pretty sure Skoda got nicer ones themselfes in Aluminium from the sport-model...

Think 32kofdata can fill in on this if he sees this thread!

Don't know of what crazy plastic mixture the handles are made of but they are very robust. I know too what you mean about how they feel but unfortunately there is nothing you can do about it and no aftermarket option available. As for the look of them you can of course remove them and paint them as I did mine in gloss black. Others have gone for something fancier and painted them a matching color to their car's exterior. You can do the air vents too while you are at it and it will defo smarten up your Monte's interior.

That is the wrong green in this particular picture on what I have on the outside, got the right one now.

However, is lights up the interior alot!

Too be honest, the stock interior is really REALLY boring!

I really wanted to liven up the interior of mine with race blue surrounds. But I can't bear to start disassembling anything!

It's very very easy to remove those bits shown in the picture.

A really small flat screwdriver (not the sonic one) to bend out the stereo-frame and a creditcard to get the airvents out.

Gently slide the card below the airvent, lift up and pull everything out.

Very, very simple :).

What I might do then is order some of the same components as spares, so can be stripped back to standard if needed.

Off I go to order another couple of aerosols of Race Blue

don't even need a scre driver to take the radio surround out. I can take mine out my my fingers. I would probably use something softer so you don't scratch it. like a plastic ruler or piece of thin strong wood.

you can put a chrome surround around the dashboard, all the way around along the gap between the upper and lower dashboard

and pur some chroms on the tweeter grill surround on the a pillars

I'll repeat what I said earlier since no-one seems to have taken notice...

Look at the Superskoda site,Fabia II interior, and you will see alloy door handles!!

I took notice and I've already made my mind up myself that I'd rather try my own thing instead of paying £57 for aluminium trim and handles. For £32 for the handles only would be a good bet to go for regarding the OP

Let's repeat what I said aswell : they are Skoda Original-products which are buyable at a more affordable cost at the local stealer =D!

Not available from Uk dealers,as far as I know.

Those "alloy" look handles, have you seen them up close?

Those were the ones my car came with and they look awful and cheap more than the black handles your cars come equipped with.

Thanks, that's what I wanted to know,so I'll not get them.

So they are just silver painted and not metal?

Painted plastic with a mat silver finish. Seriously cheap looking. You are better off with painting yours.

Just need the central vents doing.

Think this would look on my Monte if done with the red.

Id defo do the vent surounds, but im not sure on the radio one tho

Vent-surround is a bitch compared to the stereo-surround I'm afraid.
