You didn't overtake me in the final session, therefore you lose. :p   In fact its sibart who wins for passing the mongrel in both sessions :D

Ahh I may have only overtaken you in the 1st session, but silbart didn't overtake me in either of them :D

Cossie1 was the only person all day to overtake the Yeti.

Case closed! :D

My wife said that she thought I looked the fastest from her vantage point trackside. Bless her. So I win.

She wasn't standing at Quarry then? ;):D

Korban got a 5.9 for artistic merit from me, for his off.

Still hoping that someone caught it on video from the outside :wonder:

Car seemed a bit 'odd' with its handling since the off so when I changed back to the road wheels this evening I had a good look at the suspension and found a load of earth and grass packed around the mounting points of the console bushes !

Cleaned it all out now so hoping all will feel as normal tomorrow.

Karl

2nd session video being created at the moment. Will see how much i managed to capture of your off Karl.

Wow, I have a sleep and all hell has broken loose,

Anyway, I refer to April's track day @ Combe, I was forced of the racing line through the Esses by a 205 who paid no attention to anything whatsoever.  Lloyd can vouch for that he was in car at time.

I will admit I was quicker than normal round the circuit, I did apologise to people who I had a couple of "moments" with, one definitely couldn't be helped, cant do anything if a car is driving at 65mph, on the far right of Avon rise, way off the "line", and I am approaching at 125 + then I will take the racing line to get through the corner to avoid a coming together as they enter Quarry on the wrong angle and force themselves wide as that wouldn't have been my fault.  The second was at Tower, think it was vRS19TD and another Octy, I overtook the Octy, came into the no overtaking zone, then had no room to move left to get a better line into corner, so i was carrying more speed through it and darted past when it was clear as I was moving, both times, yes my fault but spoke to relevant people about it directly Afterwards! I would have been faster if it hadn't been for a Pesky Boost Leak, was loosing 3psi.

What I cant understand is, if you had felt "bullied" by the "Nutters" then why not come and speak to us there and then when we returned to the stand. we are all approachable, not like we are massive counts or anything.  Believe it or not Castle Combe meet April Last year was my first ever track day, never taken a car on track just drag racing at Santa Pod.  So I am a relative novice like you compared to Richard, that's 4 Combe meets and Bedford How Fast? so 5 in total.

I have a Spare seat anytime you would like to come out and get some pointers round track to help you, not being rude or insulting to people's driving, just want to help fellow brisky's.

I love the fact that we have Noobs and Experienced people on track together, as it can give the Noobs, some helpful looks at the line if we have overtaken before a corner they are uncomfortable with.

I never felt "bullied", its a term we used to use to describe how to move slower racers out of the way.... it works I have a history of moving people out of the way, and now I have downsized I feel their pain ......Karma ?

I didn't raise it because faster people MUST get through its a prime part of sport whatever guise it is in.

Richards driving was exceptional, especially when you factor in the ride height etc. of the yeti

Whilst not an accomplished fast driver, I have a working knowledge and a little experience and think its fair to raise that when within the red zone you should feel relatively safe (im assuming thats their point) to corner safely then move left ?

In reflection moaning at a keyboard has come across a little weak, my original thought was to raise it, have the "rules" highlighted and move on ....I love a rule if you hadn't noticed !!

Having kicked the bee's nest im gutted this could make things difficult for jason in the future so would ask for my posts (not including kick ass photo's of my car) to be removed. Even when screaming "faaaarking yeti" I loved every minute, even sliding towards the barrier at 60mph

Huge thanks to Jason, hat off to Richards driving and **** you to the Mk2 fabia's nanny state traction control

*******s, I left the TC on on mine :( Not that it would have helped by switching it to off. I just totally forgot to open the drivers side cubby and move the 'On' tab to it's 'Off' position :D

Had a great day at coombe

Even though my brakes went funny in the 2nd session

Bossfox thanks for the camera :) even though if you watch it i might of swore at you for getting close but looking at your videos it wasnt that close :( ooopsie

No need to remove anything in this thread yet. And yes your points about the Red non overtaking areas are indeed valid. I'm sure I'm also guilty of maybe a sneaky overtake or three in said areas. Ooops sorry !

I think sometimes you know the person ahead has seen you, they have moved wide, leaving a good gap to sneak down the inside, but all the time, knowing you are in the "red zone" - I guess coming out the red zones its not so bad.  The approach to red zones, with closing speeds, and heavy braking, can appear more aggressive I guess, and this is always the risk with those first time out on track.  I remember the same on my first Nurburgring lap.  :(   It's something we all end up having to do first time out - mirror watch more than enjoy / drive the course.  However, when in that boat, and all have sailed past, and you have a clear rear view mirror, you can carry on without worry

Not alone Pete.

I went through the pics from Charlie's car and he got overtaken by two people in the same area, who were also overtaking each other at the same time. :)

So they were three wide in a red zone.  All done safely with space given.

While rules are rules, it seems to me that at every Castle Combe day people will pass slower moving traffic where they think there is space.

I know when I went down the inside of the Monaro V8 at Quarry he was well over a car width from the apex as he passed it and was making plenty of space.  So I went.

No probs, even if the track side video shows me doing about three silver cars at the same time. :(

Here's my take on the day, as a track session virgin; It was fekkin awesome. I loved every minute of my session, I pushed my old mate as hard as I dared and in my mind he did well (I patted his binnacle and said 'thanks mate' when back at the clubstand) I knew there would be people out there faster than us so kept that in mind. My advice is keep an eye on the mirrors, don't push beyond your or the cars limits and don't get in the way, someone's always going to be quicker. Also, have FUN! That's what it's about.

One of them was me. :hi:

It looks from my cam viewpoint that no one was ever in danger of coming together, just a little bit close, but these things happen.

I expected you up the inside, thats why I was on the outside waiting to turn in.

Not suprised Nik missed the apex in his Monaro, his first ever time on track in a big heavy beast. (Probably one of the quietest cars on the session too, only managed 83 dB of v8 thundering.)

Mine made 79 :D The sound tester said 'second quietest of the day' I asked him if he'd seen a Nissan Leaf pass by :D

I got 79 :(

A whole 95 apparently from me. Shows that I had nothing to worry about when I was concerned before.

Apparently mine was 99db diesel thunder :D
