Glad to be a new member of the British Skoda family, it feels good already.

I'm the proud new owner of a 2005 Fabia 1.2 12v Classic, one owner, 22,000 miles and very pretty.

First impressions are very good. Smooth, nearly silent at tick over compared to my previous MK 4 Fiesta and well put together.

Could I ask assistance from the community on one point?

Should this (basic) model give you an audible warning that you've left your lights on when exiting the car? The interior light works when the doors open, but only if the lights are on at the time!

It seems bizarre that this feature was missed out, even if this is the base model. However, it also seems bizarre that my car has A/C when central locking would have been a much more sensible extra...

Any help VERY appreciated.

My 06 Classic 1.4TDI buzzes if the lights are left on - are you trying it with the keys out of the ignitian, not just turned off. Mine has central locking, but only off the key in the door (not remote), but has A/C and even cruise control.

I've not got a Fabia, but a Polo, it is strange that the interior light only comes on if the car lights are on, I've never ever had that in any car and I can't think of any logic to it working like that.

I can't think that Skoda would be stupid enough to "leave out" the lights on warning while the keys are in the switch, though the Polo gives the lights on warning when the driver's door is opened and the lights are on under all conditions - which seems the right way to do things.

You might even find that if you leave the indicator switch to one side and switch the lights out, when the key is out of the ignition, the side lights come on on "that " side - so act as parking lights - that is why you see lots of "German" cars parked at night with only one side lit - normally the wrong side!!

My 2003 classic does the following: lights on, key out, open door-buzzer

lights on, ignition on then off but key still in, open door-no buzzer

" , key in, but ignition not been on open door-buzzer.

My classic has fob c/l but no a/c.. The interior light works as designed lights on or off when switch in correct position.
