  • Well after a really early start this morning I have sold my Golf to a guy from Dartford, he has big plans for more power, a roll cage and getting it road legal again, I agreed to deliver it for some b

  • 2015 is now here, the next chapter in the life of the Golf is about to begin!  After the low boost set up in 2014, I am happy to run that in 2015 whilst I go collecting parts again, the plan is 450 bh

I have been at Central VW today, looking through all the parts I have collected for project "Blow Job" we seem to have all we need, so that is good.

The only down side to it is that I will be in work when it is built, I was hoping to be a bit involved in the build but I suppose I can't and that is that. I will ask Si to take pictures so I can at least see what he has done.

I hope you can get to Cadwell, will be a good day out as usual.

Glad to see this is going ahead :)

A mate of mine thinks my turbo plans are mad, he thinks I should sell the Golf in bits and buy a proper track car that I can compete with.

He claims the money I am spending on the Golf would happily support a rally car and I would be able to compete in proper events against the clock, I know he is correct but I like to no pressure environment of the track days, here is a picture he sent me to try and convince me not to turbo the V6.

What was that?

Looks vaguely S2000esque...

Maybe the VTEC kicked in.

If you're happy with the Golf, keep it. Has your friend been in it?

No he hasn't and he is very biased to the rally world and Ford Escorts and oversteer!

I have to say, oversteer is quite a lot of fun. :giggle:

Looking good though.

nice project - that "track" looks pretty narrow though

Do you mean the sprint track?  If so, yes it was bloomin' tight!

It is about a year now since I purchased the Golf, seems a long time ago.

I have had one year of road tax, one year of insurance and MOT but no more!  I am taking it off the road, no more tax and MOT or insurance for that matter. No mrs worrying about getting modifications insured and no worries about keeping CATs and airbag lights out as from now on it will be towed to track days on a trailer

However for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction! The reaction in this case is that the Fabia has to be swapped for a car than can tow a trailer with the Golf on it, the car we have bought and collect next Saturday is a BMW e91 330d, 3 litre, 6 cylinder turbo, oodles of torque and a healthy 231bhp linked to a slick 6 speed auto box, sumptuous leather interior should make for a decent tow car and if the Golf lets me down it will probably make for a half decent track car too  ;)

Here she is, an 06, one owner car with FSH and a mere 96k on the clock.

It has been a bit quiet for the Golf thread of late, only a few things happening, I have fixed the harnesses through the floor now with proper FIA anchor plates, I have also removed more trim, roof lining, lower dash and all sound deadening.

I have also done a track day at Cadwell Park, nearly forgot, I dropped the fat lump off at Central VW Audi so the turbo can be fitted too  :o    Keeping the stock look though, it is a very unassuming car. Boot will be debadged also.

Is the turbo fitted yet? :D

  • Author

Apparently my car is in bits! The fitting starts this week coming.

I dropped the Golf off last weekend, I also left a camera on the seat so Simon can take photographs of what he is doing, a bit of a record of events. I have to work and can't see what is going on.

OK, Turbo update, I called at Central VW today and my car is on the lift, front is all unbolted, parts have been checked as all present and correct so work will begin in anger Monday, apparently the job will be done by next weekend, fitted ready to go!

i will be away until 1st August so it will be getting collected on the trailer and taken straight to Blyton for the mega meet and a try out on the Brisky mega meet track session.

I'll see you there ;)

Manifolds are off, lots of plastic has been removed, fuel regulator is fitted oh and a new manifold is ordered as I had the wrong one

All in all there is no turning back now, should be finished by Friday 1st August, just in time for Blyton on the 3rd  :wonder:
