Had a few minor hick ups, like the inlet manifold and exhaust manifold being wrong, so now about £500 lighter but have the correct parts

Progress, it is now Friday night, car has got majority of bits bolted on but has not been fired up yet, tomorrow is the set up and modification of the front bumper to fit back on.

Looking promising for Blyton Park   ;)

Looked promising at Blyton Park too.

Was certainly going well.

I have to agree, not bad for something we threw together  ;)    I am off for another week so I am now off to Demon Tweeks shopping, I think new front bushes are needed to stiffen things up a little, a boost gauge is more wanted than needed just because it now has boost and an oil cooler is also needed as things did get a little hot yesterday.

Then a quick swap of the wheels, front to the back and back to the front, fill it with petrol (as it has a new found love for fuel, 8 mpg on track yesterday, that equates to 60 miles on 3/4 of a tank of fuel  :peek: ) and it is ready for Bedford

I did find the "how many BHP does it have now" discussion quite amusing the night before at Blyton, I don't know how many it has but it goes better than it did.

James, I have some cast tt wishbones with caster bushes and superpro front bushes with the reducing sleeves to further improve steering if you like :)

Having chased it round and seen that there was probably less than half a second between us at Blyton I'd guess it's around 270.

But I'm guessing that be improved on to over 300 with a few tweaks.

Bedford is looking interesting.

A number of cars with quite similar performance.

Thanks for the offer Josh, I will consider it as the stock front end is ok but I am sure with more adjustment turn in could be a lot better.

Haldex is also flashable now ;)

All very interesting. However at the moment I don't seem to have any issues with the Haldex/all wheel drive, I corner with a steady 10 degree drift according to those who have followed me in through the corners.

I have book marked the pages for future reference.

Josh, what is this flashing you speak of?

Was great to see the golf operating at blyton James and thanks for coming for a few laps in my Fabia

Some in car footage from Blyton Park, car is fitted with the turbo now, quite a crude job, no map on there yet, just increased fuel pressure and approximately 5psi of boost. Results, I am happy with, power delivery is good albeit a little crude with a great surge usually too early in the corner making for a wide exit!

I saw this at Blyton and it did look to be setup very well :)

Do you have any info on this?

Thanks softscoop,  my car goes well I have to agree, as for the setting up of it, this has all been more luck than judgement. Most of it I have bolted together, I did get it four wheel aligned when I bought my tyres though, so this may be why it goes around corners.

Ok so possibly it is a replacement controller, better adjustability than a blue and also cheaper :)

Do the trackday marshals have any issues that you have no MOT on the car? Just a thought as it would without a doubt be cheaper and easier for me to put my project on a trailer hooked to the van!

As long as you do not book to go to an MSV road car only track day you will be ok. The road worthiness of your car is your responsibility. If the organisers think there is an issue they will black flag you and check your car over.

Lots of cars are trailered to track days.

the blue has no adjustability

I'd imagine the price of a blue controller will be dropping

You'd be bonkers to pay more for a blue controller than one of the new hpa controllers

United motorsport offer a haldex map too

The insert gives max pre-tension of the clutch at a fraction of the cost though

TBH, I am not seeing any issue at all with the way the Haldex operates on track, it does not matter where the car is on track it just goes with very little drama, almost to the point where it could do with being a little more exciting.

What would I be seeing when on track to need any of the upgrades above?  Obviously they do something but I would need to know what before shelling out money for them.

In stock form the haldex waits for slip before engaging significant power to the rear axle

It then only add enough power to counter the slip

problem with this is very passive

By making the haldex engage before traction is lost gives more predicability

You can better feel how much traction you've got and setup for corners accordingly

Takes control away from the computer and puts it back in the drivers hands

The other area that's effected are the braking dynamics

All the performance controllers, bar the blue controller, leave the haldex clutch engaged during braking

This increasings engine-breaking ability, and can increase stability under braking

It does however mean the drivers will have to handle any potential the weight transfer

Blue controllers like stock controllers cut power to haldex during braking to prevent oversteer, can be very annoying when pressing on

Yeah I know, I meant it in the sense of more adjustability rather than the one adjustment blue makes from standard..worded poorly by myself!

I was definitely after one of these controllers before breaking the tt!

Quick update;

Fitted a pod of gauges, they were from an Audi 80, this will allow me to keep an eye on oil temp, oil pressure and BOOST. Nice addition.

A spare set of wheels have been purchased off c3po Brisky member, a nice trip to PontyPridd yesterday with the wife, treated her to an evening out, nice meal etc in the Royal Oak Hotel, Rhandirmwyn (I think that is how you spell it). On the way home today I got the new wheels mated to some slicks at Demon Tweeks, looking forward to giving them a try, maybe at How Fast  :p

This afternoon, I have fashioned a heat shield to cover the turbo manifold and fitted a titanium jacket to the turbo on the hot side, also found somewhere to mount the oil cooler but stuck for space for the catch can.

Finally I remembered I had a strut brace I bought off Krissthemiller in December last year, so drilled a few holes and bolted this on, time will tell if it is excess weight or if it improves anything.

Tomorrow, polybushing the front wishbones and fitting some new DS3000 pads as there is nowt left of the old pads.
