I need to fit a switch to my current power supply to my Subwoofer in the boot.

 

I was wondering if it would be possible to use a switch for the sub 'blend in' with the rest of the dash. Such as using a duplicate rear heater switch and wiring it up to work for the sub?

If this is possible I was also thinking of replacing another one of the blank panels and putting in a switch for neons.

 

If anyone has done this or can give me some tips that would be great.

Just wire one into the ignition feed, then you wouldn't need to be messing round with relays etc.

I have a small toggle switch installed into one of the blanks in my car, for the water meth.  Just drilled a hole through the middle and shoved it in there.  I wouldn't fancy having the power supply for a subwoofer going up a dash blank, unless it was just a remote signal wire to a relay or something like that.

I looked into using the switches. But if i remember its not a latching switch. Instead its normally a switch and a latching relay for the rear heated window. So it wouldnt work just fitting the switch alone in one of the blanks.

If i remember correctly. Was a while ago. However if someone has a way, id be intrigued, i like the oem look.

I picked up some heated window switches as we wanted a water meth switch and nitrous switch on the dash but a little 'stealth'.  I then used a bi stable flip flop circuit http://www.bowdenshobbycircuits.info/page9.htm  to give a push on push off as the switches are momentary.

 

It takes a bit of effort but putting in the circuit means the actual switching is done away from the dashboard.

 

I also put in a different colour led for when they were activated (3mm led) You can also remove the logo with a sharp knife and colour it in with indelible pen.   :S
