Yeti Boot Badge - covered by warranty?

Featured Replies

Evening All,

Booked the Yeti in for her first MOT at my nearest dealer (don't want to say which yet!) and to look at the rear Skoda boot badge which appears to have absorbed water and turned a blotchy milky colour.

Is this likely to be covered under the warranty or am I destined to moan at them?

Thanks.

Should be, many have been replaced free-even without asking in my case.

Yes the badge should be, many members on here have had badges replaced, some more than once. My 2012 model Yeti is showing signs of white worm on the rear badge as well. One for me to point out at service time as well. I may ask for a spare so I can fully seal it with a clear coating.

Blimey, fast response! Thanks - much appreciated.

In Greece there is a silent recall campagne. As soon as you get to a dealer for regular service, they replace it for free.

Mine was absolutely mint condition but the still changed it.

Mine was changed at the last service as part of a special replacement programme. The wheel badges need doing too, but it had steel with winter tyres on at the time.

Replaced mine because of white worm, had 'made in Italy' on reverse - says it all. Made in Czech is best.

Does anyone think BMW could be persuaded to adopt a similar attitude with respect to their badges? Mind you - it's 10 years before theirs start to have the blue/white colour "propeller" disintegrate, and nice enough carbon effect replacements are under £10 each off Flea-bay. Guess what my Beemer has?

Skoda had a dodgy batch of badges that the silvering came off of leaving white plastic -I had the ones on my Fabia changed under warranty because they went white. It's a well known problem and you should have no problem getting them changed.

I found a site where you could check for recalls on the Yeti (can't remember the URL now but I'm sure someone will tell you). When I put the relevant numbers in it said a ther was an outstanding recall and when I booked a service the dealer told me about the badge. The rear one was replaced but not the front, even though it was showing signs of the "white worm". When I recently had the 2nd service done the front one was replaced. I now see that the rear one is showing signs again. :wall:

I wonder if the new Citigo type badge will be more durable?

Fred

Mine was replaced without me even asking.

And mine, replaced twice under warranty and they're going "wormy" again but as the car is now out of warranty I guess that's the end of free replacements!

Got mine done Free of charge, and the wheel emblems all went the same way, but next time I would have to pay, as it is 3 years old in January 2015, look on any model of Skoda and they all go the same way, the new design emblems might be better.

So after I got the Yeti back home, I got a tube of clear silicone sealant and went round every emblem and sealed them in, then wiped clean, job done, so I hope I have stopped the weather getting in on the edge of the emblems.

After you have had the emblems replaced, seal them with clear sealant to keep the rain out. then wipe away any residue. the new design emblems should be better we hope.
