Ah, since the above, have read that there will be a non-Greenline 1.6tdi with DSG gearbox. The engine will be available on non-greenline models then. Interesting.

Most annoyed by the fact that Greentech with stop/start etc will be available for the 1.4 TSI and not the 1.2. Ridiculous when this could have been used to compete on Co2 with Suzuki S Cross etc :wall:

What a can of worms that Skoda this side of the channel can add to.

I'm going to wait until I see one in the metal before I make a final decision, but I'm leaning to the "positive" side at the moment.

I thought the absence of the usual fog/DRLs would make the FL look like all the other soft readers but I'm pleased to say it hasn't.

Despite the lack of them, the FL still maintains the character of the yeti.

Not quite sure about the eyebrows over the fog alights on the rufty tufty version though.

When I first looked at the current Yeti I wasn't sure about the front fog lights as an aesthetically pleasing feature. However, over time, the design seemed to grow on me but I much prefer the FL model front end. Anyone who misses the fog lights can simply purchase an after market set and attach them with sticky back plastic, Velcro, self tapping screws or an other DIY product that some of our members seem to thrive on. They could also get an unqualified electrician to wire them up or simply fit them themselves. Please don't take me too seriously, it's just a bit of leg pulling.

Times move on, designs change. If they didn't we'd all still have coach lamps fixed to the car and trafficators.

I doubt a design change will put people off or detract from the new versions capabilities :)

I'd be surprised if they dropped the E spec.

Yes, it's a bit naff (IMO) and not many go for it, but it has an important purpose.

When they show the Yeti they can say "From only £xx" which keeps the old Skoda value thing going.

You can get a cheap one, if you want a version without all the extra kit and a basic radio.

I would really like to see a 1.8 DSG and I'd also like to be able to add adaptive cruise control.

No doubt after Skoda UK told me to give up the idea of an L&K that won't happen either, as 90000 said in post one.

Although with the FL looking less funky that the pre-FL I'm not as sure the new cars will look as good in red (or basic blue) anyway.

Probably need to be white or metallic.

Me too. What I can't quite understand is why not (in the FL I mean)? The technology obviously exists in other VW models in the sense of eg making a somewhat more frugal 1.8TSi with Stop/Start that would give an acceptable CO2 with a wet DSG. Not quite sure what S/S takes, but presumably a larger starter motor/alternator/battery plus a bit of extra electronics - difficult to imagine that any of that is supply limited. And presumably there's space in the Yeti engine bay to fit larger components (if that's what it takes).

Do VW really not want Skoda to be too competitive in this area. Surely it's not a marketing thing of only dribbling out enhancements in small dollops - that's not a very clever strategy in this day and age. Difficult to understand!

Well I'm pretty sure that a new fog light unit or two would have been in order on my current Monster if she had the new low slung fog lights. The dull grey bits of plastic on the bottom of the old bumper do a great job of deflecting general road debris, small branches lying on the road, snow drifts etc. There well and truly peppered after 33k or rural driving.

From a practical point of view moving the fogs and painting the rear bumper are bad design.

Oh and I wouldn't fancy the look of a City versions painted sills after a couple of years, unless it's been fitted with very large rally flaps.

What's the difference between green tec and greenline exactly?

The only thing they haven't mentioned is the greenline is lowered (currently) as a difference compared to what the green tec models have.

Or is it just they are dirtier greenline models and they didn't want to mention that bit :)

Greenline has lowered suspension, stop start and low rolling resistance tyres whereas Greentech has regular suspension along with the s/s and tyres. That's how I understand it so far...

I guess we'll just need to wait and see.

I could live with either version ... it will be a 170, possibly a DSG, wee bit miffed we didn't get the 181 ... not keen on the sound of brown upholstry but guess you need to see it.  L&K spec would suit me ... but might go Elegance again if they limit colour choices etc.

Wish they would just get on and give us full details!!!!!!!

You'll have had a couple more cars before we see the FL anyway

And, I forgot to add to my post from last night, it's surely not only about customer appeal. Skoda will need to be pushing the average CO2 figure down across their whole range to comply with the next round of EU legislation. This would make it a corporate objective rather than 'simply' adding sales appeal to get CO2 down on every possible model and so I'd have expected them to be placing emissions quite high up the priorities list, especially for new models such as the FL (which I'm guessing does count as a new model, but maybe not)?

I also think the SE Plus should be amalgamated with the Elegance.  Just add Amunden Sat nav and picnic tables to the Elegance and drop the SE Plus.  Then the Elegance makes much more sense as a rounded model with a DAB radio option too - which you can now only get by adding a Columbus - which in turn makes NO sense as the L&K offers that and much more for only £400 or so more than an Elegance with a DAB Columbus.

In my suggested list above in post #14 I did not add the GreenTec models.  Will they be SE GreenTec and Elegance GreenTec etc or just a standalone GreenTec for each engine?

Those of you,who like me,rarely visit theSkoda uk website, may be surprised to know that there is quite a good write up of the Facelift Yeti.(Well it surprised me.)

There are still a few unanswered questions with Yeti FL:

- does Haldex5 have any good effect on fuel economy (or indeed bad effect on 4wd performance)?

- do the new standard headlamps use both dipped and full beam bulbs to improve performance over the pre-FL non-Xenon lamps?

and of course

- any changes to the spec / drivetrain offerings?

May I disagree with dropping the Plus, I like a wider range, gives people a greater choice and not everyone can stretch finically to the top spec.

SUK are bad enough at limiting the UK motoring publics choice (our Yeti range is about half that of Germanys for example), so please can we not encourage them further   ;)  :giggle:

Oh if I remember correctly Greentech is an engine option rather than trim level, where it is currently available in Europe; another example of SUK not giving us access to European wide options.

The answer seems to be largely no here, at least from the information made available so far. Initial suggestions are that while there might be some slight reshuffling of engine and DSG combinations (but not 1.8TSi DSG for reasons in other threads), nothing's been disclosed AFAIK that would suggest any revised engine types.

However, the official write-up at

http://www.skoda.co.uk/models/YetiE/new-yeti/Pages/the-new-skoda-yeti.aspx

does have the vague comment that 'A new range of modern engines; available in front and four-wheel drive, manual transmission and DSG will be available on the all-new ŠKODA Yeti - all turbocharged and with direct injection.' But that could mean anything from the slight reshuffle suggested above, through just the newish 1.6TDi engine to conceivably a more significant update to the engine range. But I'm pessimistic.

The third question in the poll is a bit tricky to answer as one has to base ones answer on the new looks and the new tech and engine options. How does one vote if one likes the new tech but not the new looks?

The questions I want answered are whether the facelift solves some of the annoyances with the existing design. For example is there now a cover for the centre rear armrest to protect it from items in the boot? Several members of this forum have come up with solutions but surely this is something Skoda should address in a facelift. Will DAB be standard across the range? Will there be stop-start technology to improve economy? If the only real changes are visual and there are no real improvements then I really don't see the point of the facelift. But then I guess the answer is in the name - facelift - desperately trying to add "youth" to a maturing already attractive face!

Is it possible to merge all of the FL topics into one place as there are 5 topics all discussing the same points

And, will they put a decent light in the boot?

I've got a pre-FL on order. Do I need to masking-tape one of my LED Lenser Police Tech torches to the side of the boot?....... :giggle:
