And, will they put a decent light in the boot?

Doesn't Press release state that there will be a removeable LED torch/boot light fitted?

Good idea. Flitting between the various FL threads is a real pain!

All I want is a bigger petrol engine with DSG. The new Seat Cupra I saw advertised today has a 1.4 petrol with

180 bhp and 7 speed DSG. That will do me fine thanks.

All FL threads merged for ease of keeping discussion and info in one place.

Please add anything FL pre-production/delivery related to this thread.  Any new threads will be merged with this one.

its called a fabia vRS

And compared to a Yeti is not fun to drive either... :bandit:

Just spent ages reading this. Been rather busy with work and selling my Yeti and buying my Freelander.

I quite like the FL, but not enough to sell my Freelander and go back to paying many hundreds a month to pay for it.

Maybe that will change when Yeti mk 2 comes out, who knows.

With all due respect, if I wanted something like a Fabia I would hardly have chopped in my R32

for a Yeti!

As a recent Yeti owner I am interested in the plus points that drove you to buy a Freelander. I looked at

them but apart from good reviews about comfort they seemed to score badly on all other areas, especially

reliability.

Cost?

No finance can be a big positive.

Okay, but I must admit I don't really understand. I never buy anything on finance of any sort

so it is never a consideration.

It's not a bad looking car but I have to say it has lost the individuality of the original. A lot more angular which seems to be the current trend and the interior is unchanged from what I can see. I certainly won't be rushing to swap.

Have I missed something or was the change in motor a clandestine one :giggle:

Enjoy the Freelander, from what I can see of the avatar it looks very nice.

I wanted a 4x4, with the higher driving position, that was more comfortable than the Yeti, with diesel & automatic. I also wanted to own it outright without paying for it. It also had to be Yeti ish in size. I wanted it to be as capable or more off road with more ground clearance. Old Disco's & RR'scwere out of the question. None of the jap ones do a diesel auto for sensible money.

The later FL's are better with the Td4 engine and revised drivetrain from 2004 on. Still need to be maintained properly though.

There was only one vehicle that met my requirements. I now own it

Grrr and just like that a moderator merged this because people could not read the titles or stick to that!!! The one thread I created was a first look discussion on the new car. The other I created was totally separate on what the range will be and the other was a very specific poll about the looks... But then people went off topic and the threads became a muddle. Grrr. All the forum threads are obout Yetis but we don't merge them!!!

Oh well. One huge merged thread now in which (if by going with this logic and Gadgetman's threat of merging everything new we start with this thread) we have to discuss everything FL related for the next four years only here, never creating new sub threads. :-)

That is the exact engine and gearbox the CO2 belching and not so economical 1,8 petrol should be replaced with. We should not all moan to get a 152hp DSG 1,8 (the DSG 1,8 has a lower output than the 160hp manual in other counties) but we should pester Škoda for a 1,4 180hp DSG. That's more like it.

All of the merged threads were discussing the same points. Like/don't like; what spec /this is the spec etc etc.

The same was done in the mk3 octavia forum, the Mk2 FL discussion so the yeti forum is being treated the same way.

This is only until people start ordering or receiving, not for the next 18-24months until the MK2 lands ;)

Thank you. I've always liked the look of the Freelander and even offered to buy a friend's one when she was thinking if selling.

Flaming Orange colour or something which really appealed.

I don't need any off road capability so the Freelander may have been wasted on me. 4x4 Yeti will most likely never go

off road either!

Thought about a used Freelander before but don't fancy the running costs and potential problems. Co2 ( re RFL), mpg, servicing, repair costs have not looked favourable when I have done some research. Pity.

Hi Johann, nice to have met you just as you were leaving the Birmingham meet.

Couldn't agree more with what you have said. I don't like diesels much but it was the only way I could get a Yeti with decent oomph

and DSG. Give me a big petrol engine anytime!

Something I realised this morning as I was cycling to work (and I saw a low spec Octy mk III come towards me) is that I think the lower spec Yetis will (just like the new Octavia) NOT get the LED DRL at the front as per the images currently shown.  So expect E, S, SE and SE Plus to have a set of inner lights next to the halogen headlights that act as (I hope) main beam AND (on circa 20% power in the day) as DRLs:

Halogen DRL:

Vs the LED DRLs:

What it does mean though is that just perhaps the halogen Yetis will finally get two separate bulbs for dipped and main beam.

You're putting a scary amount of thought into this Johann. I like it.

I'm a scary person when it comes to details.   :giggle:   But then I'm an architect.  LOL

I think you are right, Johann.

Reading the latest release from SUK it certainly appears that the LED DRL's only go with the HID lights.

That means hopefully that the others will be something like 2 H7 bulbs, which should be an improvement.

Those of you,who like me,rarely visit theSkoda uk website, may be surprised to know that there is quite a good write up of the Facelift Yeti.(Well it surprised me.)

Why is the optical parking assistant called "brand new" if the rear view camera is optional? Why is it called "optical" at all? Does anyone know whether there really is something new in it apart from the camera option? I apologize if this was already discussed.
