direct line believe it or not. im insured in my mums name who is 60 with 10 years ncb, it is unprotected ncb, with an excess of 850 for myself. soif i crash it im screwed. car insurance is disgusting makes me sick. have u considered getting a small car like a 1.0 micra get insured fully comp and some open policys let u drive any other car third party. theres a guy at my work who does that. but the best insurance u could possibly have is traders policy, however most companys have realised this and as a result u would need all business details vat reg no.s etc so its v hard unless u know someone with a garage. . Just keep looking and be honest with the co.

Have a look in the discounts section, we have a few performance companies that do good deals. One is 300 cheaper on policy price than Direct Line for me. Perhaps more importantly thats before the difference of 500 in excess is added on, so that's nearly half the price of Direct Line...

Does anyone get the feeling that some company's are just quoting big numbers to get rid of what they consider to be high risk drivers?

Getting damn close to the old-fart region of age so I don't have that problem but it does amaze me sometimes when younger drivers get all offended 'n' stuff when they are asked to pay large insurance contributions

Don't even bother with Churchill. If you have an accident in the first year, never mind if it's your fault or not, they are ar5es. They wreck your no claims bonus (protected or not) and quote you 3 times what the car's worth when you come up for renewal. Bustards.

More Th>n is good for mods - allows anything as long as it doesn't affect top speed and acceleration, so my alloys and springs = don't need to tell them - Yay!

I think garaging a car overnight is a good insurance premium lowering factor... I don't have that luxury as the garage is full of crap!

I liked the fact More Th>n took into account I have held a full driving license for 7 years, not just the fact I have three years no claims (didn't get insurance in my name until I got the Fabia). Those 4 years of driving as a "named driver" haven't been a total waste of time.

Yet to find out their policy in re-mapping though... That's going to be an interesting phone call.... "HOW MUCH??!!"
