STOLEN: Skoda Octavia vRS (Ireland)

Featured Replies

Bad news ....

Sorry to hear, that those scumbags have stolen your car and other belongings.

I hope, they may be caught by the Police asap.

Try to keep an eye on local car magazines in case of Octavia car parts

for sale perhaps or ebay for the laptop... Thieves are often stupid

But I hope you get your joy and pride back in one

piece and in good condition.

If not , and those pigs perhaps have an accident with it, I hope they

suffer on paraplegia or other major handicaps afterwards.

Thanks for the replies,

still no news - kinda suspect it's gone.... But it will be 21 days before the insurance will pay out if it doesn't show up in the mean time.

If that happens I'll be in a real quandry, based on the 21 day wait plus the ten week wait for a new vRS, it'll be mid-October - with registrations here running Jan-Dec buying a new car in October is not the best plan! So if I'm waiting until Jan what should I buy, I know the new vRS should be out then, but with the VRT here it's bound to be good bit more than the current model........ Ah well, at least I'll have a while to make up my mind if it comes to it.

Paddy,

A Superb would be worth looking at if its anywhere near your budget, you being a family man and all that. Bryan got about 3.5k off for not having a trade in. Savage room in the back.

hope your Octavia home very soon.

Might be a goer - pricey once you start going up the spec list though.

A LOT of car for the money though. No harm in checking them out :) .

Indeed not - still thinking about other options - Octavia 2.0FSI, Volvo S40 and some others.

Just a note, having talked to a lot of people about car theft in the last few days, there seems to be a strong trend towards breaking in to steal the keys of new(ish) cars with the intention of stripping them down for parts. Alot of the stolen cars seem to spend a few days parked in residential areas after they're taken (presumably as they strip down one at a time) - so please keep your eyes open for mine.... thanks :)

Paddy

Really? I'll take the scenic route home tomorrow so...

I kinda expected that. Over by me you see the odd car on the backroads, I've given up ringing cops as they WON'T do anything with the reg plates still on, the cars end up being burned out. The cops have access to people details, wouldn't you think they would contact them.

I'll keep me eyes open for you :)

Good news, Paddy got his car back, it was in Rathfarnam village beside the Yellow House. His friend was on his way to pub and spotted it !

:D:D:D:D:D:D

What about the keys? Did he use a spare set to reclaim it or get the Police to recover and look for clues?

Either way. Good news!

excellent. Any news on the tealeaf that took it?

The cops towed it - it's still locked - the stolen set of keys are missing and my set are in the post to the insurance company. Hopefully, I'll get it all sorted out on Monday.

Anyway my cars on it's way back to me :D:D:D:D

Yeap - even better, I'd driven a princely 20 km back home from the garage before it was nicked and the paper work in the garage has the exact mileage (is that still the right word given it's measured in km  ) when I dropped it in. So I should be able to get a pretty clear picture of what they got upto with it. Here's hoping, there's just the distance from Celbridge to Rathfarnham on the clock!

Kilometerage. doesn't really roll off the tongue, does it

 Glad to hear youve got it back, hopefully it was only taken to be used as a taxi home, and not abused.

Hi Folks,

Picked her up today - perfect nick! Looks like it was driven from my place to rathfarnham (15 miles), only my shades where nicked (3 years old, and scratched).

She's in the garage getting the locks replaced - might even have her back on Friday!

By the sound of it you need a new pair of shades anyway :), it could have been a whole lot worse. What was the MPG/or whatever the KM equivalent is like ?

What did the garage make of it all ?

How much for locks replacement ?
