So soon then.........On second thoughts scrub that, just in case.

Got my Fabia vRS a week ago and just done my first long[ish] run - West Cumbria to Chester n back. Still accelerating like mad at 85, 45mpg, quiet, comfortable, loadsa room for luggage... :D Can't see why I'd need an Octy to be honest...

Well to simplify it for you.

If you want a large boot to shift stuff around in' date=' good speeds and resonable comfort over long distance driveing then I think you should edge towards the Octy,

However

If you want great fuel consumption, a nippiness round town then the Fabia is the one for you.[/quote']

Might be retiring the RS soon and handing the keys back to the wife, just found a '65 Cortina that a mate of mine has been hiding in a garage for the last 18 years , needs some work ;) but its faired well... it's almost as old as you mate  .

I can't speak for the Octavia Vrs having never been in one, but the Fabia Vrs is a cracking little car. If driven moderately it should deliver 50-55mpg, harshly 45ish. It also has all of the "real world" performance that you'll need, and the insurance ain't too bad either!

A race?

Between standard cars, from the lights to 100mph+? The Octy would win easily, the Octy is slightly heavier but is more aerodynamic and has a 50bhp advantage. At 100mph the Furby will be around 8 seconds down. On road driving is a different story with the furby having the edge but the 1.8T is still very flexible for a Petrol Turbo.

If you need boot space it will have to be the Octavia otherwise the Fabia is nearly as roomy for passengers. If you want to save on fuel costs and insurance buy the Furby or go for the PD130 Octy. The Octavia vRS will still be cheaper to run than many smaller hot hatches though.

If insurance and fuel is not an issue and you just want a powerfull quick car buy an Impreza. :D

Cheers

Lee

have you considered the 4x4??

screw all them vRS pansies :P

cheaper to insure my played with 4x4 than a standard vRS, doesn't get unwanted attention as it looks plain but goes about the same(better at times and worse at others).

tbh the vRS is just a 1.8T octavia with sporty stuff (wheels, suspension, seats) and ever so slightly bigger brakes.

a 'normal' 1.8T octavia would be the same too ;)

and if your planning on tuning it(chipping it, bigger brakes and better suspension) then forget the vRS as it will be money wasted imho

forgot to say, my average mpg on my 4x4 is around 18 - 19 at the moment :o

i'll nener turn to the darkside or the clergy!!

If you want a nice looking, roomy, comfortable, economical, fast, cheap to run, relatively rare car then it IS the Fab vRS you need.

If you want a car that people will flag down because they assume you are a mini cab, go for the Octy.

No brainer :D:rofl:;)

I got called a troll for saying that........

I bought an Octy because a Fabia was too small for my family (SWMBO plus two teenage sons).

not being funny mate but its not always what you say but how you say it and how often you say it.

 See that's funny. :finger:

Well I had a Fabia vRS for 20 months. It was a nice enough car, but I would have prefered an Octavia. I could afford one, but the insurance and fuel costs would (and still are) more than I was willing to pay. Had another chance when part-exing the Fabia, but it still apllied, plus it's an obsolete model.

I only said it once, **** me you lot are a touchy bunch.

Enough! :grumpy:

Thread closed.

Anyone with a problem with that? Tell someone who cares :D

spoil sport.

still it was all pointless. Real vRS's travel in convoy @ 140mph lit only by a green unearthly glow.... if you weren't there you dont have a proper vRS.
