OEM tyres 2006 vRS

Featured Replies

Hi,

Does anyone know what manufacturer the OEM/factory fitted tyres would have been on my 2006 vRS ?

Any help would be appreciated.

Craig

Think they change quite regularly depending what they buy in on bulk. They often seem to be Dunlops or Continentals though.

Why do you need to know anyway.

OK thanks.

Would just like to know what ones they originally came out with. As I currently have Michelins on the back and Continentals on the front. All from when I bought it 2 years ago.

My 2007 had Dunlops on as oem. They were rubbish!

Got my car on a 07 plate when it was 6 months old with 1k on it.  Had bridgestone potenzas RE050's.  Sawtoothed like mad and were rubbish considering how much they cost.  Would never buy them again.  Stick to Kumho and Falkens now as they are far more affordable and last a lot longer.

Dunlops to be fair are probably worse than the bridgestones.  Especially with sawtoothing.

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetic 2. Best tyre I've had.

my 2008 vrs had michelin premacys fitted.

Just look at what the best currently available, rather than what it originally came with. It's of no consequence anyway; as said they often switch tyres brands, probably dependant on what deal can be struck.

Secondly, any tyre that was current in 2006 has almost certainly been superseded with a newer model.

Depends what you want to spend but I'd look at the Goodyear Eagle F1 Assym2, as already mentioned, or the Michelin PS3.

I'd stick with Michelin personally

I've used both (using PS3s at the moment) and would happily use either again, if that helps :)

Dunlops on my 56 plate, they are total carp and the tread cracked up on them after about 2.5 years. Got the geometry set up correctly and Rainsport 2's put on and the car is a lot quieter and handles better.
