Thanks James, that makes me confident for Combe lol.

vRSy ran Tarox 330mm disc six pot stoppers on his on many track days with ballast removed, he only praised the benefit of the BBK.

Very small update, some of my wheel nut covers were looking very tired when I fitted the spacers so ordered these in Dark Chrome from TPI.

I have to confess that I am a little concerned that in most light they look pretty bling, too silver for my liking.

Going to contact TPI (or their reseller) and check I have the right ones.

So I have contacted the seller wheelpartstore on ebay (Rochford Tyres and Auto Centres - www.alloywheels.com)

I'm pretty convinced that these have been mispackaged but sadly as can too often be the case with ebay stores, single line respones from someone who is clearly not that interested.  Not what you call customer service.

Anyway, if these end up looking as bad as I fear I will see if I can rehome them with someone on here whose wheels they might suit a little better.

It's a shame when a business is not interested to look after their customers. Put me down as first refusal, they might ok on dark chrome giagros as mine look pretty goosed....

17 mm hex Black..!!!!!

That's an uncharacteristically grubby wheel!

Brakes look ace though :)

Spot the mistake that was made on the Brembo logo when these were refurbed :D

Did you do this yourself Mark?

No Chris, simple as it was, I had adult supervision :) I'm fortunate to have a friend and fellow car enthusiast who is a mechanic with access to full garage facilities including the lift you see, I basically work as his assistant and once we are done depending on how tough the job was, sort him out with some beer tokens and on this occasion some wax . The job wasn't difficult or especially complicated, but I wouldn't do it by myself as it involved changing the lines and calipers, so bleeding and checking for leaks is usually something I like to leave to someone more competent than myself, pads and discs I can manage.

P.s. Thanks for not berating me for the state of those arches, with the car lowered I hadn't realised how bad they had got :)

Pads and discs you can manage?

Mmmmm......interesting ;)

Look forward to your updates once these have bedded in!

Will you be cleaning these new Calipers and the wheel arch liners from now on Mark ? :giggle:

Delayed reaction? :D

The old ones got cleaned, car just gets driven hard.

.............plus, you have seen my road, arch liners don't stay clean long when it rains.

Gave the car a run on some nice twisties yesterday.

Highly recommend this brake conversion, the LCR Brembo's are a different league to stock brakes.  The change in confidence when pushing on is significant.  This is all from part worn OEM pads, I expect with an uprated pad, things would only be better again.  They are capable of highlighting the over nannying ABS, but I make a point of not grumbling about safety aids as no-one knows when they might run out of talent and need them.

The EBC Ultimax discs, look fab and aren't noisey which was exactly what I was after.

One thing I forgot to mention above, the LCR Brembo's arent a nice aluminium monoblock like Porsche Brembo's but they were in hand, marginally lighter than stock calipers and the way the 323mm disc is designed, it doesn't seem to carry much more material or weight than the 288's.  Overall I certainly dont think I have gained any unsprung weight, and there is definitely no sign in the driving of the car that I have.

Happy days.

Next up, shock absorbers and polybushes.  Ideally done together.  I have eyed up the lower engine mount bush with my mate/mechanic and that looks like a quick and easy hit, if I get bored waiting on saving up cash for the dampers and superpro bushes.

Beyond the chassis - custom race cat downpipe and Stage 2

After that.......................................who knows.

Great write up Sparkly!

The Brembo's are certainly an upgrade from standard stoppers. I had 312's on my MK1 and that made a noticeable improvement over stock. I can only imagine the Brembo's are the same again over the 312's!

I would love to justify the price of finding a set and then fitting them one day!

Plus let's be honest. They look awesome! :-)

Have you got any picks of the new brakes with the wheel fitted and off the stand?

Up the page, there is a pic of the car with wheels on and on the floor.

They look a little different now as the wheels are even grubbier still and the black has been worn off the face of the discs, so silver face, black slots and black disc centre.

I will hopefully get a chance to give the car a thorough clean this weekend and I will get some snaps up.

With 15mm spacers front, the fit is still quite tight.

Thought you were thinking of selling Mark or was that somebody else I'm thinking about.?
