Hah, good question Matty.

You have the poly bushes and all else the same, I think you edge it!

Lucky there are a few straights at Combe and How Fast :D

Well. You're right but it's all down to the speed at the corners. The time will tell. Lol...no pressure at all...! :D

Don't care, if he's faster he's faster, we will have as much fun! :D

But seriously Dave the lower engine mount is a real nice piece of kit for the money it really does revamp the character of the car.

not sure If i want harder/harsher, though...... the Eunos is hard to drive fast , leaves you worn out (though rewarding) is SOOOOO loud, and RAW ......

I kinda like the way i can still drive to work in quiet comfort ;) thats why I even decided against the resonator removal.....

what advantages would you say the mount gives?

Sounds like you the Mazda continues to get all the love Dave.

If the vRS is just a shopping cart, the lower mount isn't for you ;)

Joking aside, the lower mount adds some vibration and noise at idle then is like stock at movement speeds. Only difference is pedal response becomes much more instant and the engine feels stronger like torque isn't being soaked up by the engine bush and mount

so what it does in essance is prevent the engine from moving so much on its mounts?

I can see how that would make it feel more track focused for sure!

I'm enjoying you build thread Mark :) you will have a proper racer by the time you've finished!

already much better spec than when I last saw it at castle coomb!

Thanks Dave, yeah it does feel more focused but I am confident that most people would really enjoy the mount. The car feels more focused but hardly any negatives. The vibration into the cabin is minor at first start up and forgotten once in motion. That elastic rather than instant feel the accelerator can have is gone, just direct response. The gear change is also much, much quicker.

Now having been out this morning the mad thing is I got better around town economy because I was giving less throttle in lower gears to achieve progress.

I guess it would cause fear at full power ;)

Really interested in this for mine Mark! Sounds like it makes a good improvement. I'm finding the elastic feel under hard acceleration even more now since fitting a TMC.

dont you find the gear changes a bit more "aggressive" with the TMC ? I did with my old one :)

TBH my description of the gear changes with the new mount as 'violent' is probably quite poor.  With a remap the gear changes are more pronounced but perhaps feel a little slow and flabby at times after the paddle press.  With the mount fitted the changes come much quicker and the car jumps onto the power again so fast that the experience of accelerating is a lot more visceral and aggressive.

I do indeed, it's great and I really like the way it performs. But that aggressive jolt is more than likely caused by the extra power I now have being cut when shifting cogs and the extra torque playing havoc with the dog bone mount.

Starting to think this may be a worthwhile modification to make sure these new found horses are put to best use!

it could be true that Mark has found the "mod to go with a remap" ;) something new that improves things....... once you change something, there is always room to change something else to match.... with the massive grip I've got now, I'm certainly considering polybushing....

It's never ending! Well it is; when you end up with a **** hot car, but no house, no wife and even the dog hates the sight of your face....... Maybe that's just my worry! Lol

I have been inspired by some awesome 1.4tsi content on the VAG OC - The guys in Greece really seem to be at the head of the game when it comes to tuning these little beasties.

This car I believe is 440bhp+

Have also seen a SCN member running one of these on a tuned Ibiza http://www.tmcmotorsport.com/PowerPedal.aspx

Worth a punt for £150 to play with the throttle mapping :)

Go on Mark...

Do it...!!!!!

Do it...!!!!!

Do it...!!!!!

You know you want to...!!!
