Been recovered back a few times by "On Time" when I drove LGVs. Best one was when I broke down at Brent Cross, we went up the M1 and then Anticlockwise round the M25 back to Rochester, because it avoided paying the Dartford Toll! So your GTR could be anywhere, sorry!

Thats is good news Richard I'd imagine they would be quite difficult to replace, the old skool golf freaks love the original BBS wheels, sadly they are getting harder and harder to source.

Picked up the R32.

Going "safe" for Monday, so they've capped it at 450 bhp from around 4,000rpm all the way to 8,000.

I had an insane grin all the way home.

Being a bit old you really feel the acceleration, feels flippin' quick.

A bit of smoke due to excess fuel is good, helps to cool the pistons.

My son talked my wife into taking the Skyline to Tesco this morning for the family shop.

So after an agreement from the wife to show her how brisk it is we did a quick full bore blast in 2nd gear.

Oh the joy of 4x4 and 888 tyres.

Me too, gave the car a quick wipe over this afternoon so it's all ready for Monday when we meet up.

Would like to say I've fitted my track wheels, but that's all I've got.

Well, had a great day at Brands yesterday with a few fellow Briskoda members.

Had a great day, went out as a passenger with Pete in his mk1 Octy VRS (deceptively quick) and took a few passengers out myself.

All of which seemed to enjoy it.

After it was tricky to start due to leaving the bonnet shut (heat evaporating fuel maybe) I took to opening the bonnet when coming back to the pits as it was then fine.

 

Wasn't actually super fast, even though I was flying past everyone else on track.
There were only two laps where I didn't have to slow for other cars and they were both around 58 seconds.

I know of cars similar to what my car will be when it's finished doing around 54 second laps.

Looked at the Vbox footage briefly and I need to learn to be a bit more smooth with the Skyline. I also wasn't using the grip available from the 888s, as I was pulling more G through Druids than anywhere else.
Also realised I've not been taking the right line through Clearways.

To start with I was throwing it late into the corners and being quite agressive with it.
Few times I locked up the inside rear going into Druids.
Overall I was leaving braking late, then having little time to get the car balanced and get a good exit from the corner.

But was masking this a bit using the superior power (330bhp(ish) per tonne) of the Skyline to hoon out of the corners.

I had an instructor session (20mins) before and after lunch and we focused on being smoother into the corners and Clearways and some of it has stuck. We both noticed a noticable improvement between the before and after.

Just got to get more familar with the car, understand it's capabilities and build my confidence with it.

It still has the bigger intercooler to go on, which will increase the power by around 100bhp and help it keep it's power for the whole session as I think it's getting a bit warm and backing the power off a bit.
I'd also like to try some pads with more bite on the front as while the Alcon pads have proved to be OK on track they are not on a par with the R35 and I think the front can take more stopping force.

It feels faster than the R35 I had, even though I was probably 3 or 4 seconds per lap slower.
But clearly you need to drive the R32 well to get the best out of it. The systems working in the R35 seem to mask a bit of driver error/lack of skill by doing some of the work for you.
Not that I was super fast in the R35, but it was easier to get it closer to it's limits.

Overall I have to say I'm very happy with the R32.
It's a hell of a lot of fun and it's made me realise how much work I need to do to get the best out of it.

Just need to get a small oil leak on the gearbox sorted.  Think the seal is leaking where the rear prop comes out.

Previously vehicles I've taken on track have either been an R35 (which flatters the driver a bit) or things that are slower and so less "full on".

I'm certainly looking forward to getting more track time in this car.
