  • A few pics of the deeper red colour when the sun is down, brothers in arms.

  • Right.   I gave myself a good talking to and popped out for a little bonding with the new car.   Holy moley it's even more bonkers than I remember the last ones being. Yes, they have worked a lot

A firm that's done a few GT-Rs in Surrey, so know the car shape pretty well.

Awesome, can they do Fabias?

  • Author

I doubt they've ever done one before, so in all honesty there would probably be little point in paying the premium to a firm that's used to charging fairly strong prices.

I only went there because they have done more GT-Rs than anyone else.

If you want their details, drop me a PM. :)

Forget what I said about my wrap.

It's come off for a refresh and some rather nasty things were found.

The thread on GTR website is here.

It's a lot of pages and not very pleasant.

Jesus those Nissan guys bang on more than we do ;)

I was considering seeing you fancied being Mrs Pasty's wedding car next year but now its just a scratch covered Datson i'm not so sure :D

In all seriousness though absolutely gutted for you Rich

That looks like exactly the kind of mistake i'd make and damage i'd cause if I was attempting a DIY wrap at home.

You would not expect that kind of result from a "professional".

I hope it all pans out ok and you can get something in compensation or i guess it'll need to be wrapped and remain wrapped for ever!

On the re-wrap from are you sticking with garish bright yellow?

It'll need the wings, doors and boot lid spraying when it's time for it to live without a wrap.

Regards the wedding car, if I still have it the answer is yes. (if you do really want it?)

Thought you'd have prefered a Skoda though.

It'll still be yellow.

The rewrap is being made into a short vid I believe, I'll post it up when it's live.

:'(

Sickening. I'd seen other threads about wraps going wrong and the car being damaged. Didn't you say the paint on these is different to other cars (softer?) I know you said it shows marks easily hence the wrap in the first place

Was just pie in the sky really. We got talking about people with fancy cars and your Nissan came up.

It's for another 14 months so we're way way ahead of ourselves

Thought you'd have prefered a Skoda though.

Hmmm will have to make sure that Mrs Pasty get s Citigo-go friendly dress ;)

Look forward to seeing the video when it's finished and as said hope everything works out

Yes, the whole idea about a wrap protecting the paint seems to have blown up in my face.

I've seen GTRs wrapped before without panel removal. There were some limitations, but not paintwork damage which defeated the purpose of a removeable wrap. I'd have gone nuts if that was my car.

Mines staying pearl white.

All a bit of a PITA, seems VM aren't all they purport to be. Bit of of a hot potatoe, especially with the fanboys thowing in their tuppence worth. Sorry to see the damage Richard, you are being pretty decent about it as usual, well done for that.

Ooops. Not what you expect to find!

I'll confess the only thing about wrapping I know is what I saw on a TV prog with a tall guy and short ars* - you know the one on Discovery. What I don't get is why you would cut the vinyl on the car. It seems madness to me.

Gutted for you. It's horrible when you give something you care about to someone trusting them not to damage it and they do something like this knowing full well the outcome. I cannot remember who the company was, but in the next door unit to the valeters who prepared our Citigo. I saw them wrapping a GTR and they had pannels off and appeared to be taking extreme care -3 people to refit the bumper. Hope all goes well this time around.

Richard, I admire your patience and calmness.

I know it doesnt help to go beserk, but most of us would have!

The problem nowadays seems to be respect. No respect for other people and even less respect for otherones property.

Having watched an Escort Cosworth rally car being partially wrapped many years ago I cannot see how a car can be wrapped with all the trim in place and not get blade marks in the paint.

The bad bit is the potential for blade marks should be pointed out to the customer before the wrap is done… I expect if they did this though, then a good percentage would then not bother getting the car wrapped.

The problem is until you have seen it first hand then like Richard all you see is the finished product, no wrap is going to be 100% due to all the different curves on a car, the trick is I suppose to have all the joins as invisible as possible.

Looking at the photo’s I too would have been livid.

...I cannot see how a car can be wrapped with all the trim in place and not get blade marks in the paint...

I watched a guy wrapping part of a car last week. He didn't cut all the way through the wrap. He seemed to hold the blade still against the wrap and pull the wrap against the blade.

Just realised I never put up my calendar pics.

Car was featured with Skyline Owners (don't point out it's not a Skyline, it was the only R35 in there!)

If it's on it's side it's because imageshack is carp and keeps screwing up the orientation and crashing when I correct it.

It was also in the Miss Veilside Help fo Heros one. Oddly for exactly the same month.

Nice pins...but the wheels are a different story.

Silly me didn't think about the shoot and was planning on taking the family along and going on from there.

Good job my wife had plans as on arrival the young lady has the smallest bikini on I've ever seen.

It saved a lot of explaining to my three year old...

Obviously I was a bit naive, thinking it's was less clothes just for the shots.

The car as it stands now, ready for wrap number two...

That's rather grim, especially as it's on such a great car. Not everyone (Or anyone else?) would have made the damage caused by the wrap so public to save others the possible grief involved.

I'm not very good at keeping quiet for my own good (car resale value) and putting other people in a situation I don't like.

I've since found out about three other people who have had cars sorted and kept quiet, leaving others to sent their cars there...

Just not on IMO.

Damn conscience! :)
