Those wheels would be a brave decision on anything but the smoothest roads!

Using 19s everyday mate and never had problems, bare in mind my is factory lowered by 15mm, still thinking about at least - 40mm springs or even coil overs.

Hello everyone and a Happy New Year.

My name is Daniel, I just joined this community yesterday; for the past 12 years or so, I've owned VAG cars only ... seems to run in the family (other cars that we have are a mk II Octavia bought new in '07, a 2009 Passat B6 and a 2015 Audi Q5 quattro :) )

I bought this "bad boy" just a couple of months ago and I'm smiling ever since, especially now that i can play around on snow / ice with a 4x4.

Without further ado, here is  "The Great Black"

This is not my car. Was just an example of colour for alloys.

@Superb-pop I think you’re right - lowering the car will fit the wheels perfect. I’m planning in future to buy a set of Vossen, will see if it’s the budget.

Don't you have other options, BOLA makes something similar to the Vossens, i even Think BM Autosport have them for a more reasonable price or check on fleabay :D

Any opinions??

They should fit bang on mate, as far I remember ET is 41 so perfect for superb, if the tyres are good think they price is sensible too.

@Adamos20

So no problem with the insurance??

To be honest You should Inform them about different wheels, personally I've inform my insurance company about 19s and they didn't Increased my premium (I'm runnig factory Skoda 19s)

Best thing just give them a bell and ask.

Most of I surance companies are OK if You change wheels, if You go for more mods than they may ask for more ££££

This is mine, I bought her in July 2018 as a upgrade for my old daily (Octavia Mk1 vrs, I'd had it 7 years) I don't keep my car standard for very long and I want to sort the suspension out as it was way to soft and floaty for me.

FB_IMG_1532873614873.jpg

I found this one after looking for a few months, I nearly bought a 4x4 elegance two 170bhp, which was really nice but a marmite colour of dark met brown with cream interior. I was on my way to buy it when I found this one and I turned around and went for this, not seen many in the dark blue for sale so had to have it. It a awesome car the wife likes to drive it too. Loads of room for the little one and her pram in the boot. Great all rounder I've found.

At the moment I'm running on 17" winter wheels but I've got a set of Bentley wheels in the garage for the summer but don't know wether to fit them? I've also lowered it on a set of Bilsteins B16 which is the best thing I've done. Awesome ride.

I've not gone mega low as it's a daily, this is about a 45-50mm drop, it will look better with bigger wheels.

This is what I have sat in my garage they are 9x20 et41, they fit on the front I just need to put one on the back and have a good poke around and see it they will fit with tyres on. I'd be going for a 235/30/20 tyre if I do.

I know there's a few wheels experts on here but do you think I'll get away with running 20's on it? If not I'm selling them and going for a set of 19's.

You can play around with different configurations at https://www.willtheyfit.com/ to see how things line up. I think the biggest problem you'll get with the 20s is that your speedometer and odometer will be out as I don't think there's any way you will be able to keep the stock rolling radius going from 18" to 20". The cluster can be recoded for a size equivalent to 235/45/R18 which may work - willtheyfit might help you decide on this.

Cheers for that, I've used that site a few times. Last time i looked I think with the tyre I'm thinking of fitting that the Speedo is only out but about 1.5%l, I know anything over 3% can cause you trouble with speed and 3% is the maximum difference you should allow.

Not sure about those % figures. I don't think any of my previous cars have been within 5% to be honest. My golf over read by 8 - 10% (which is still only 27 or 28 mph at 30mph).

A 2% difference would roughly equate to the rolling difference between a brand new set of tyres with 8mm and a set down to 3mm.

8-10% is a lot especially when you come to speeds like 60mph...... when I've looked again if I run 235/30/20 from a 225/40/18 It's only 1.83% difference and it will actully be going slower by that.

Aha, I think we may getting crossed wires here. When you mention the percentages are you talking about the difference in rolling circumference from one wheel/tyre combo to the next, or the percentage the Speedo is 'out'?

The former would make a lot more sense with the percentages you mention :D

So I'm thinking I might keep the wheels and fit them in the summer. My mate has a set of audi wheels the exact same off set, width and size with the same size tyre I was thinking of putting on, so I'm going to try them for fitment and have a drive with them on to make sure there's no rubbing or anything to worry about.

Cheers these are 20" Mulliners, I was lucky to fall on them to be honest. I was going to sell them on but I don't know how.
