Hi I'm having intermittent problems with the front wipers - washer pump and wipers dead, then working again when I return to the car a little later. I have checked relevant fuses and have read all {i think} of the posts relating to  this problem and suspect it is either the relay switch (too bigger job for me) or the bonnet switch saying it is open, when in fact the bonnet is shut. Where is it situated?

If the bonnet switch has failed and thinks it's open, should'nt you get a warning on the dash similar to an open door when the engine is running?

 

Having a quick look at my octavia, it looks like the switch is part of the locking latch under the radiator/condenser shroud.

Thanks for that drw8 its not the warmest of days to be popping out to check something, and you are correct. I forgot to mention my car is a octavia 2012 1.6 diesel. Have just popped out (!) and the warning comes up on the dash when the bonnet is open, so I doubt if that is the problem. Tried the wipers and they are working at the moment, so fingers crossed they stay that way!

take it to dealers and let them fix it for free?

Yes, already booked in for next Tuesday, but with lousy weather on the way and a drive to hospital in Manchester, I thought it might just be an easy fix.
