Well that was much better!

Congratulations especially to Perez and Force India for the podium.

Great to see Ricciardo giving Vettel a run for his money, despite Red Bull's best efforts to break his spirits in the first two races.

Also, loving the drivers ignoring team orders this year

  • Not completely sold on the nose regs for this year either, but some interesting designs came out however can't say Im sold on the ones that are just blatantly appendages (eg TorroRosso or ForceIndia).

What a mental race! On the edge of my seat the whole time fantastic. Hamilton from pit lane to 3rd, Alonso done a great job and I think my driver of the day has to be Ricciardo, just massively impre

it was interesting to watch the 3 guys on the podium during the National Anthems. During our National Anthem Lewis fidgeted and chatted, but during the German National Anthem, he seemed to take the whole thing a bit more serious. Only a small observation, but it made me wonder if Queen and Country was second to the tune (no pun intended) of the big bucks and manufacturing, of Mercedes  :( Hope I misjudged that one

Lewis thinks he's American so I guess the British anthem is irrelevant to him..

Arnt the Royal Family of German descent anyway Amanda?

The 'House of Windsor' came from the 'House of Saxe-Coburg' and the 'House of Hanover'.

Great race today. Maldo managing to keep his reputation in tact. Good to see Merc letting drivers fight to the flag.

Letting lapped cars overtake, not sure if that's a good idea. The theory behind it is good, but the implementation takes time. Maybe if that hadn't happened Riccardo would have managed to get Perez.

Gary Anderson is now working for Autosport, is there any links as to who left who ? Not been paying attention.

And about fuel flow... Speed limits are measured in miles per HOUR, doesn't mean you can spend 30minutes at 15mph then 30mins at 45mph...

I thought he was Swiss, oh no that where he moved as soon as he started doing well to avoid British taxes.

I like British residencees like Mark Webber, do not think there are any F1 drivers now who llive here and that is with our lienient high tax rate of 45%, maybe when it drops to 40%?

I know Alonso moved his tax affairs back to Spain to make a statement about his country's struggling finances. Good on him.

Come on Lol-Lol you must be slipping ,You forgot to mention the 20% VAT

I listened to the race on the radio.

+1

I listened on the PC while doing some drawings for a customer, it sounded like a good race.

There is a danger of the season becoming boring in the sense that the Mercedes will win all of the races. The only difference to last season is that Mercedes will let their drivers race each other.

Yep, and with guns are measured on a sample rate, the same in-car with electric instruments or it's done with analogue (which are notoriously unreliable, hence the 10% leeway unofficial rule) calibrated devices. You still have to specify the parameters more specifically, they obviously will have done that in order to calibrate and ratify the 'official' flow sensors, but those parameters should be in the technical regulations.

iirc the 'National Anthem' is really the Royal Anthem that we have adopted as our national one. So perhaps it all makes sense after all :D

Fabulous race though. Only thing I didn't like was having to scream at the telly to tell the director to follow the leaders battle. I didn't give a monkeys about who came third to be honest. imagine if they had taken each other off and the director was looking at some minor place battle :(

Banging race, all the way through the field there was top wheel to wheel action. Hopefully williams/macca/FI get some development going and close the gap, doubt Merc will have it their own way all season. I was fantastic to see how great the professional relationship is between Lewis & Nico, great, respectful wheel to wheel racing and then giving each other a pat on the back and have a laugh afterwards, showing how it should be done. Would love to see Bottas get a podium or win. Was gutted to see Button retire, think he could have got near a podium too.

One last highlight, Ricciardo not only show Vettel he is there to beat him but also the latter being told to let him pass, bet he loved that. :D

Onwards!

The teams have accepted that when they are alerted to the possibility the sensor could exceed the 100kg per hour rate at peak flow, irrespective of what their own data says, they have to peg back their rate slightly to ensure there is no breach of the rules.

The winding back is minor but has become an accepted part of understanding the new fuel efficiency formula.

Red Bull did not trust the readings from the sensor on Ricciardo's car, however, and furthermore ignored advice from the FIA to turn down its flow rate in the race.

Sensor supplier Gill Sensors claims that 52 per cent of its meters are with a 0.1 per cent accuracy reading, with 92 per cent within 0.25 per cent.

Hamilton must be hoping for a Rosberg retirement soon, as he's still 11 points behind him. That means he has to win the next 3 races with Rosberg 2nd before he leads.

Not a bad race and listening to it in Spanish meant no Coultard 'witisisms' to put up with! And thankfully the Spanish commentators shut up when team radio came on.

All of which still fails to address the point that the flow rate out of the tank which Gill measure is not the same thing as the flow rate into the cylinders, which is what determines your fuel consumption.

Sorry if I'm being thick, but in what way does measuring the rate coming out of the tank not tell you how quickly the fuel is getting used up? Where else does it go? Can it come out and go back in?

All the teams have the same piece of kit ... RB are just p*ssed that Renault have let them down and they will try anything to twist the rules to help with performance. Even Marko threatening pulling out of F1 .... now that is throwing all the toys out of the pram and stamping your feet coz its not all going your way !!!

In a word yes. Google "fuel return circuit" for yourself if you like. I'm not dead sure about the Tsi, but I;d be most surprised if your vRS doesn't do this and diesles have done it since the 1980s if not earlier.

I actually agree with you about Vermillian Male Bovine's motivation, and indeed that they are emitting the eponymous and proverbial product. That doesn't mean that the FIA's rule says anything like what was intended.

Only 2 races. There are 7 points between first and second, 25 for a win and 18 for second. Hamilton would be on 100 and Rosberg on 97.

My mistake, thought it was 25, then 20 points. Still, a Rosberg retirement would certainly help Lewis on his way to second drivers championship.

I'm not convinced the Renault is that bad; not as good as the Merc but it looked like it was Ferrari who were really struggling in Bahrain.

So today is the day in Paris - let's see if the FIA have any balls.

Yeah, just like a football club, if they have an unsuccessful start to a season, sack the manager (although it says he's resigned, I still wonder if he's been pushed)! Hope this doesn't become prevalent in F1.

and they've replaced him with the North American Car Sales Director??
