The flags are post to post, that post is directly after the incident so it's a green flag for the track onwards from that post, the ones previous would be double yellows.

  • Not completely sold on the nose regs for this year either, but some interesting designs came out however can't say Im sold on the ones that are just blatantly appendages (eg TorroRosso or ForceIndia).

What a mental race! On the edge of my seat the whole time fantastic. Hamilton from pit lane to 3rd, Alonso done a great job and I think my driver of the day has to be Ricciardo, just massively impre

WHich relates to what I was thinking; that the drivers guidance that I've seen (ex flag marshal) states that the track is clear to resume racing when "you pass the green flag" and not "when you see the green flag". Even if, as a freak of geometry, the Dunlop exit marshal's post was after the recovery vehicle, the track was not clear until the drivers had passed the marshal's post although the flag would be visible earlier.

I don't wish Jules any ill-will, far from it, but this is a clear case of someone getting caught out by their own cheating.

Or just the Marshal Points & Flags being pertinent to the Accident and instructions to the drivers,

and not to a river of water running across a track.  possibly the cause of the first accident,

allowing for driver error will always be blamed unless of breakages to components.

& Driver error can only be the immediate and unconfirmed response to a car / Driver which was under Double Yellow Flag Warnings,

sliding into Recovery taking place right next to a Marshal & Flag position, where it may or may not be after the Incident position.

It will surely come out in the investigation the cars speed while under Double Yellows before Traction & Adhesion was lost

with the drivers control of his destiny.

We now know Bernies feelings.

'We race a lot in the rain.!

So that is sorted then.  No blame on anything can go the way of Bernie Ecclestone.

'Motorsport is or can be dangerous', Taking part in Motorsport can be dangerous.

Accidents happen,

& until something is found to be a Dangerous Practice that could be made less dangerous, nothing happens.

And do not blame Bernie ever.!!!

Anyway, what's the view on this weeks race in Russia?

Haven't really seen the track layout, so does it look interesting/challenging or just another rather dull way to pass 1½ hours on a Sunday?

Will Lewis extend his lead or lose it?

Better than Valencia but not by much I recon. All that is certain is that Maldonado will crash again.

Hoping Autosprout will print a larger than usual track map: I suspect we're all going to need it!

Oh and Forza Nico!!

Just had a look on the BBC website and there's a little piece with DC and Vettel driving the track and although it didn't give a detailed view of the track, there do appear to be some parts with walls and small run off areas suggesting that safety cars could well be deployed for even quite minor off's.

Rosberg fastest in FP1 with Hamilton 2nd. Button 3rd with Alonso 4th.

Latest update from Marussia:

Hamilton set some storming pace in the 2nd practice session going under 1.40. Not sure whether McLaren have bought some upgrades but KMag came in 2nd with a 1.40.4

I'm sure rosberg will be hungry this weekend for a victory

Button sounded really ****ed off after qualifying 4th.  Has Alonso been signed for next year?

My thoughts exactly. Magnussen sounded pretty cheesed off, too!

All change at McLaren or they've both been given the "one of you is going" line

I thought all those interviewed including Nico, Lewis and Seb all sounded pretty glum. I don't know whether it's just the Jules thing or something else.

Jenson really sounded as it his fate is no longer in his hands.

It was just Kvyat who sounded happy - and rightly so in front of his home crowd.

Putting it bluntly, their mate is nearly dead and tbh people like Button who have been world champions must find it hard to get excited about P4 no matter how much the car has improved.

Good drive by Hamilton today, Rosberg's do or die lung at the start  was very optimistic.

You can't win a race in the first corner, but you sure can lose it.

Another strong drive by Bottas in the Williams.

Oh how I chuckled at Turdbergs first lap lunge fail. Told to give the place back then has to pit to change his tyres. Credit where it's due though he did do well to come back through the field. Nice to see the Maccas doing a bit better too, Button on the radio was quite amusing. The closer it gets the more hacked off I am about the double points finish, just takes away from the rest of the season imo

Double points 50 for the wIn / 36 for 2nd place. Hamilton needs a 14 point gap at the last race.

Hamilton needs as bigger gap he can get, there's no guarantee he'll even finish the final race. I think thats the annoying thing, he could win the next 2 races and go into the last race 49 points ahead if Nico ****s up/has a problem but if Lewis has a failure in the final race that'll all be gone because the chances are no one will be able to stop Nico. Just a little artificial for me. I know it could go either way but it'd be a shame for the winner of the WDC to only win due to getting double points whichever driver it is.

I thought that had been dropped?

It's still on unfortunately.

That's the thing I'm really wanting to not happen, is seeing the championship swap places at the last round due to double points.

Meantime I was well impressed by just how racy Nico was given that he did all but one lap on one set of primes.

I can see this going to the last round where Nico and Hamilton will take each other out to win the title...  Much in the same way as Senna and Prost...

It shouldn't be this way but that is what the double points has created...

Pirelli had the tyres so wrong!!

Should have been soft and super soft

Always a tough call when you go to a circuit for the first time, but yes, in hindsight they got it massively wrong.
