Can you clarify exactly what you mean by remote?

Or is this Lancashire speak for something else? ;)

i think this is about the linkage and slickness of gearchange.

I'm also from Lancashire too and have no idea what OP is reffering too...

I've always know a remote control gearbox as an automatic?

So basically no one has the remotest idea what on earth the OP is on about.

I presume he thinks about gear stick.

He mentions the manual gearbox.....

True but I figured he was just confused as the post suggested!

He's not the only one who's confused! :D

Yes, the canute valve has been replaced by the unocylic rimble tap assembly creating a much improved slick slicing chamber action. Thank goodness is all I can say, as it is so much better now.

Is that connected to the oojamaflick & the thingamybob via the doodar switch, which engages watchamacallit.

Actually, I think i do know what the OP is referring to. In days gone by, particularly on the old Mini, the gearshift linkage to the gearbox was referred to as a remote. I'm pretty sure he is referring to the shift quality of the gearchange, ie the slickness of the linkage from the stick to the gearbox.

If that's not it, then I am confused too. ;)

Gearbox remote??

ON fwd cars most gear selectors are not dierectly conected to the gearbox, they are conected via a pair usually of rods, one fixed and the other moveable, that actually changes the gears in the gearbox, the other end is connected to the gearstick assembly bolted to the car floor, this is known as the gearbox remote shifter,ie not directly connected to the gearbox from the gearstick, sorry if it caused confussion, the mk2one seemed to start having a rough gear change with a clonky remote

And there was us thinking that he was taking the p***.

Good answer by the sounds of it then! (?)

So we have about 3 clever cloggs on here, 996 that are just totally confused, and then you have me

Stick to things with motors and external power sources :giggle:

So basically 'remote' is just an antiquated term for linkage?

Yeah, I prefer 750v & somewhere between 1000 & 4000 hp, OK 0-60 isn't great, but hey it's fun doing the ton legally, especially in fog,
