Looks nice Wrighty. :)

I like the shark fin radio aerial, shame mine doesn't have that. I have had to take the aerial off, just so no one nicks it ha ha.

Make sure you get some pics up

Think the aerial also houses the GPS antenna in it for the nav system, will know more after reading the book from cover to cover.

I will post up more pics tomorrow night/or Saturday, picking up tomorrow afternoon!

Hows are you getting on with your car, is she running well?!

Hopefully tomorrow morning will go quickly then.

Which dealer you getting the car from?

Yea, the car is going well. No problems currently. The car does need a good detail though, just need a the weather to be kind and stop raining.

Hartside pass is awesome ;) look it up! We may have some footage on YouTube from our brisky meets :)

Used to go for Sunday blasts on my CBR 600 with a few mates, there's a cracking cafe on the summit where everyone meets up.

Last time I drove over there was when we had our static in Penrith there was a Caterham having a bit sport with an Ariel Atom, awesome.

Vindis Cambridge, I ordered the car the day you picked yours up from there, it was supposed to look like yours but the meteor grey thing turned up, then I ordered a factory order in silver on the 12th of November. Not long now.....

Today's the day!

It's late/early and only got my phone to hand so will write in more detail with pictures very soon when on the pc but in short, I am the very proud owner of the third shade of grey and despite the weather being horrible I've had a fantastic afternoon, the dealership has looked after me extremely well and the car has exceeded all hopes and expectations in the first 50 miles, couldn't be happier!!!!

Brill!

Glad you like it mate

look forward to your review :)

Review time!

Done a few miles now, 350+ infact and all is good, I'm treating donkey under bonnet with respect, only using up to approximately half throttle and reving to a little over 5000 rpm when oil temp is above the mid 80's, down changing manually on occasions to used engine braking and rev it on the over run. It feels ver strong and pulls like a train, cant wait to give her the full beans through the gears!!!

Gearbox wise, AWESOME, I like!!! - to quote Ludacris "she's a lady on the street and a freak in the bed" - enough said

Chassis needs sorting, Its quite ok for brisk A to B stuff but doesn't fill me with confidence when I've rolled it in to a couple corners bit deeper then normal, it feels pitchy under braking and acceleration, brakes are very spongy and vague to say the least, much worst than my mk1 was, I know its on new tyres with full guage of tread but that feeling of floating around is very pronounced, doesn't feel as good as the two demonstrators I've tried in the passed on the chassis but they had 4000ish mile on them so maybe the brakes and tyres will come to me after a few more miles?

Overall happy though!

Good,

350 miles has not really got the newness off the tyres, pads and discs need the coating off and run in, and are never great anyway after that is done.

have you set your own tyres pressures?

Wrighty

Just a matter of interest, what salesman were you dealing with at Vindis?? Nice to hear someone with good reports from their dealings with them.

As I have an order for a Octavia vRS TDI estate with them, which did have build week of 3 but they tell me it's now 18!!

Never mind, just have to make the most of the Monti I should get this week, if and when DVLA pull their finger out.

Hi Steve, I've been dealing with Gary, couldn't speak more highly of him and to be honest I would have bough the product whether it was Gary or not but Gary has made my whole dealings a much more enjoyable experience! Vindis have also got back the service manager they had back in 2005 when used to take my mk1 there, without boring you with details when he left I left and took after service elsewhere but he is now back so I'm happy they are ship shaping the after service up again to a good standard.

Hope you car turns up bit sooner than week 18 though!!

This is most unlike me but I haven't checked anything, work has been so stressful this past three months with a particular job we had on and that all finished on Thursday, so on Friday I picked it up decided to take the weekend off for a change and just drove. Will go set pressures now while I think about it and check everything over at weekend when I wash it.

Sounds like you are having fun already. I would agree with the handling comments. Comming from a clio 197, the skoda just lacks the confidence. But im sure that can be changed. Still unsure what todo, what about you. Are you going to leave it how it is?

it can be changed, I have the H&R  RARB and eibachs, and was lapping all the clio's at oulton park last time out on track ;)

Interesting :)

the H&R bar is the stiffest, and best regarded.... no droplinks, needs to be crowbarred in ;) the eibachs help too... I'll be looking at bilstien shocks soon, track day tyres are next on the list though :)

makes it really FLAT, massively reduces understeer, you can get the back out trail braking, and reduces pitch and dive too , aiding traction and braking :) all good stuff!

Hi

There was a group buy on H&R RARB on the forum - anyone know if it's still going/live??

Steve

the group buy has been done, but the company is still one of the few that stock it ;)

Had a 230 mile round trip to do for work today so took the opportunity to get those miles on in one heat cycle, mostly motorway stuff but had some sport on the odd roundabout and used manual down changes in the traffic to use engine braking and manual up changes so I could use a bit more throttle but still keep revs below 5500rpm. I can now hear the turbo/super charger spooling, it gives a nice subtle whistle that I didn't notice for the first few hundred miles. The cabin is a good comfy place to be, I'd happily do more miles in one hit and the satnav is proving to be excellent!! I have noticed that the height adjustment on the drivers seat will not go as low as the passenger's seat  I like to sit as low as possible in a car as I'm 6ft+ a tad, the driving position dose feel a bit higher than the mk1. Checked tyre pressures and all spot on so dealer did there job on PDI   As for handling, when the weather get a bit warmer I will look into braided brake lines, springs/dampers and RARB, I had eibach pro spring and damper kit on my mk1 and that was a good all rounder for looks, ride comfort and sportier handling, the equivalent for the mk2 with the addition of a RARB and braided lines will put the finishing touches on without braking the bank I think. Still cant get over how good that DSG box is though....

Anyone got some good side profile pic's of a car on the H&R 40mm springs and the Eibach 20mm??!!

here is my front with the skoda approves eibachs on.... this is from still new, I think it has settled a bit since.... no point showing you my rear (ohh arrr) as its the estate, so only lowered 15 mill ;)

That looks a bit more than a 20mm drop that eibach state?! And the couple of poor pics I've found on the H&R looks to be shy of the 40mm they state.

H&R can be got from

They will ensure you are getting what you want and need.
