I didn't know it could do that!

Couple of nice touches ive found.....

When you change volume on the MFSW the volume bar is displayed on the MFD, via the HU on the main infotainment screen.

Unlike my old car you can turn off the climatronic and still switch on air recirc manually thus achieving positive blocking of outside air...appreciate this is not recommended for long periods but a nice to have.....have also found v occasionally when doing a DPF regen the fresh air comming in the vents can get v hot so is nice to block that off, couldnt do so in my Mk2 that was inflicted by the same thing. Turns off with ignition off but at least it can be switched on whilst running.

Also like it when the washer fluid runs low that the headlight washers get disabled to conserve fluid, also probably to limit damage to the high pressure pumps on the headlamp washers.....seems as though there is still at least 1 litre of screenwash left so does last a while still if sensible with it.

Can I play music on my iPhone 5 via the stereo using bluetooth, or do I need the Mitsumi?

Yes you can.

... when doing a DPF regen....

pipsyp, I had assumed that this was automatic, is it a switchable option?

Sorry what the auto air recirc? Yes is a switchable option but ive found very occasionally when my climate is off (happened once or twice in my Mk2 and once so far in the Mk3) that hot air comes through the vents in fresh air mode.....I can only attribute it to a DPF regen, it getting so hot under the bonnet that it has the negative effect of heating up the fresh air coming into the car.

In my old Mk2 the minute you shut off the climate if you had recirc on it would switch off consequently you had to have the climate on or have the vents shut. In the mk3 you can still have recirc on manually with the climate off.

I like it as it stops that problem mentioned but also I like now and again not to have the climate on but to also positively block out the fresh air coming into the cabin without having to shut the vents.

apologies, pipsyp, a misunderstanding, I thought you were suggesting that the DPF cycle could be turned on at will.

Yes you can.

Brilliant!

.... How?

I'll correct myself -- not the driver's door, but any front door needs to be opened.

So again: the way my car seems to work is that after it has come to a standstill and the engine is running, the boot door can not be opened from the outside until a front door has been opened first. For some reason, people exiting from the back seat can not open the boot by themselves. And this is with automatic locking off.

Sounds very much like mine, but that is with auto locking enabled. Just have to press the unlock button. Odd if you dont have auto locking enabled.

Playing music via the car from my phone is an awful feature.....  Skoda's ineptitude knows no bounds.  :wall:

I managed to figure out how to get it working this morning and, after ensuring Rod Stewart - Beautiful Morning (my Friday song) was playing for my short journey to pick up a liftshare, I proceeded to leave my phone in the car.  I'm now phoneless until this evening....  Stupid Skoda.

Makes me feel a bit dumb for laughing at the "Don't forget your phone" message now....!!

Another feature is that the HU reminds you to take your phone with you, if it is connected via BT

Obviously Skoda knew their target market was a bunch of inept fools.....

Haha...i was thinking of turning the message off, but might just leave in place, just in case now :)

Great thread, thanks everyone!

Hmm ... I have just discovered you can't pull the bonnet release without opening the passenger door !

I guess its a safety feature, but its the first car I have noticed that in, and I have had a few over the years

This new safety feature makes it increadibly difficult to open the bonnet if you have a flat battery. If its too flat to unlock the passenger door, you can use the key to open the drivers door, but because of the safelocks, you cant open the passenger door, so you have to reach over and try to pull the bonnet release out and over the door speaker, scratching it in the process, as i have unfortunately found out.

Good idea, but flawed

Have my iPod connected via the media input & you can alter the level of the connected iPod's volume via the Sound Settings sub menu if you first access System Setup. Seems factory default is "Quiet" so I moved mine to "Medium" & what a difference. Page 20 of Bolero Owners Manual. Only took 5 months to find out!

That's just a case of not everything being relocated for Right Hand Drive

  • 1 month later...

I like the "Warning at (MAXI DOT display)" in conjunction with the speed limit sign in the Nav.

Set it while driver by switching between the speed and warning at screens.

For those who are watching there points very handy.

Especially when the roads are full of police checks and mobile radar detectors during the summer months.

I also like the standard cruise control and those stalks are beautiful !!

All very nice and extremely useful.

I also like the hold down function of the key to open the windows of shut them when outside the car.

Also best way to close in the side mirrors as the auto setting does shut them when unneeded like when in the garage.

Best to remain in control.

Also the automatic functions like the lights on/off, rain detect wipers, Intelligent lights dip/main beam all makes driving that much nicer.

Today I discovered that pressing the steering wheel volume control mutes the radio. Luckily, pressing it again turns it back up

I've never even tried to press it! :D

One little thing that is a bit of a shame is that pressing and holding the volume button no longer turns the infotainment off and on as it did in the Mk2; I quite liked that.

Never said I meant to press it

Thought I'd broken it

And if you have the main screen showing sat nav, pressing the button will cause it to stop reading out directions and returns you to the music.

Just tried and it pressing it pauses my IPod. :)
