I didn't know it could do that!

Featured Replies

I have the 2017 Scout. I have two dogs, so often leave the windows a little bit down and the roof window open a little when I lock the car. If it rains, water goes inside, well hello, that’s pretty obvious. But on the previous model Octavia all the windows and the roof window would close automatically using the rain sensor on the windscreen. Why the hell would Skoda go backwards in it’s tech with a new model ?

Mega thread revival!!

Found out today that if I lower the driver’s side mirror when reversing, the passenger side one goes down as well.  Ditto when raising it again.  Select passenger side though and only that one moves.

You live and learn...

Now adjust the position of the drivers mirror while looking at the passenger one.

Then you will understand why you always seem to have to keep adjusting the passenger mirror after having done the drivers one, unless you are a Chameleon that is in which case you will already know!

How stupid did I feel when I finally found out after probably 10 years 😳 I mean who looks at the passenger mirror when adjusting the drivers one!

They can be coded to behave in a sensible manner using VCDS.

If you press the right hand rocker switch on the steering wheel while the trip computer is in Navigation mode the satnav will announce the next instruction, e.g. how far to the next junction. You're welcome.

I love the way the satnav takes you off at a motorway junction slip road.... and then back down the other sliproad onto the motorway again for no reason. Is mine the only car whose sat nav does this ?

I often wonder what it's upto when it says to take the next junction but when I zoom out I can see its just going to have me join the motorway again to carry on. Bonkers 🤪

To be fair, I’ve had Apple Maps and Google Maps do that.

I had it several times, usually when the motorway was busy and the sat nav thought it might be quicker to come off the motorway and straight back on - I doubt it ever would have been!

I've had it as well a few times. In particular at one junction on the A34 where the road curves round to the left on the junction and the Sat Nav is set to shortest distance

I like it when the SatNav says "turn half right" what sort of manoeuvre instruction is that, rally driving I think!

I didn't know when the boot is wet, so much of the water can go inside the car when you open it!

A more obvious feature on the sedan than the estate.

Stop/Start system.  I was aware that the engine could be restarted by turning the steering wheel, but today I noticed that when sitting in stationary traffic, if/when the car in front moved off, my motor restarted.

You can't select Eco mode if you have a trailer attached (or a bike carrier in my case). I didn't know it could do that!

If it's normally in Eco it will revert to Normal without telling you and give you an error if you try to select Eco. Makes sense if towing a caravan but was a bit miffed with only a bike carrier on the back and a 200 mile trip to the lakes.

At the end of the M69 joining the M1 north my sat nav insists on taking me to the roundabout rather than the dedicated slip road that has helpfully been provided 😕

I didn't know I could be talked into buying a 20k car coz the fuel filler cap had an ice scraper slotted into it ! 🤣

Skoda marketing and sales team ... simply clever 😉
