Automatic closing in rain

Featured Replies

Can someone with a Bolero check if they have this option in Car - Settings - Opening and Closing -Automatic closing in Rain

It was on my list of things to get dealer to enable...but they said they couldnt.

I'm not sure if it was always there or did dealer enable it. Anyway it doesnt appear to do anything.

Windows open- car locked- water poured over sensor- windows stayed open.

To code it with their VAS tool the option must already be present, if an option cannot be enabled with VCDS you may have to wait a few more releases as RossTech slowly get their heads around the MQB platform modules and their coding options. With each new release of VCDS more things appear to be changeable.

The photo i attached is from my car. So it looks like the function is now on it (unsure if it was always there)....just need to figure out how to test it.

I did read on Mk2 that wipers needed to be set to Auto....will try today.

At the moment all that can be done is to enable the option in the infotainment but it doesn't work as the rain/light sensor needs coding aswell and at the moment that cannot be done. I'm in the same situation as you.

Sorry? What is this feature?

Uses the light/rain sensor to close windows for you, if the car is parked up and it starts raining.

Have you spoken to dealer about it?

Is it being raised as an issue with Skoda UK? Afterall its a feature on the car that doesnt actually work.

When you say cant be coded is that by;

1 Dealer

2 Rosstech

3 BOTH

Thanks

Looking at my headunit there is an option to select....but as Neily03 says it cant be coded.

Am I right in saying;

VAS = Dealer software? I thought dealer mentioned another New system they were using?

VCDS = Rosstech software

Vagcom = ?

VCDS and VAG-COM are one and the same. Rosstech were forced to remove 'VAG' from the product name....

So VCDS stands for VAG COM Diagnostic System.

So the dealer VAS...is there a new version?

It isn't a feature that doesn't work - in the UK rain closing is not (to my knowledge) a feature available on any MkIII Octy from the factory.

VCDS can make all the necessary changes to the 09 Central Electronics module to enable this feature, but it cannot enable the feature on the RLFS (Rain Light Humidity Sensor), so it doesn't work.

If you have access to VCP you can code the RLFS, but it still seems a bit hit and miss as to if it works. Coded mine yesterday and it doesn't seem to work, but others have had it working!

I didn't realise this feature has been deleted. My Mk2 FL has it and having ordered a pano roof on the Mk3 I was hoping the feature was still there. Not a dealbreaker, but seems a backward step as it must only be software.

It is, and the Pano roof can be enabled for closing as well apparently.

It is do-able, just not with VCDS (yet).

The option is currently "tickable" on my head unit (I am assuming this came from the factory like that)...so as I see it.... this IS a feature that doesn't work, otherwise it should not appear on my headunit.

I doubt it came from the factory like that, more like that's as far you dealer got when they tried to enable it like you asked and just left it like that.

Would we expect GAFF's Irish vRS to be UK spec ?

GAFF, just take it back to the dealers and complain it doesn't work, if it should they'll fix, if it shouldn't they'll tell you so.

There is some criteria that has to be met before the rain closing actually activates. From another forum...

The windows only close automatically when:

(1) You've enabled the feature in VCDS and in the car menu
(2) The car is off
(3) The doors are locked
(4) The wiper stalk is in the Automatic position
(5) The Rain/Light Sensor (RLS) detects rain OR if x hours pass with no rain or no-one interacts with the car. Usually this occurs overnight in my experience.

i got mine coded with VCP, it works :hi:

Mine is coded with VCP but still won't work.

On my tablet, so can't see the profile info :(

Didn't know it was Irish spec. Be good to get an adaptation map from controller 09 and a full VCDS log of the coding :)

My elegance TDI has this option tick able on the infotainment menu. I will see if it works when it's not so wet and windy outside!

Really ? in Co. Mayo, not wet or windy, that'll be July or August then, only kidding but they don't call it the emerald isle for nothing

Thats what I was trying to figure out. I will ask guy that worked on it.
