Any must-have options?

Featured Replies

Hi. Planning on ordering new Yeti this week.

Anyone got any views on things I really must order please?

Probably going for the 110 diesel 2wd SE spec.

Money is an issue but don't want to false economise!

Also any one seen any of the poverty spec paint colours? Planning on candy white unless anyone can persuade me on another?!

As always: Thanks!

You mean any "must order options" after the a spare wheel? I'm really glad I ordered the sunroof but it was an expensive extra and i do find the front sensors useful (I went for the full Park Assist package but that was an indulgence).

Not on the obvious lists but I bought wind deflectors, which allow me to have the windows cracked down a couple of inches when it rains without getting wet and clip in sunscreens for the tailgate and rear side windows. This was to give the dog in the back some protection from the sun but I have found the side shades give a noticeable reduction in wind noise when travelling with the back windows are down.

You will get so many suggestions it will all get confusing!

There will be those that insist that you MUST have a spare wheel and those that insist an electric seat is the only thing you need.

Really we need some info from you about the usage you will make of the car, and things like where it will be kept.

I like the white ones because of the black trim bits add great contrast.

Chrome trim doesn't go with white because of the lack of contrast AFAIC.

I suppose I meant versus my current one.

So I read someone here saying that 2wd models needed esp as there were a few reports that some had ended up upside down.

My current model is a 1.8tsi 4x4 SE and cruise/rear parking sensors are very necessary.

Just wondered if anything else jumped out.

It's mostly used by my wife and 2yo son in the week and kept on our drive. I drive them around on the weekend in it.

A 2 year old son then all things safety,

Rear Side air bags.

Maybe the seat tables but not having seen them I cannot vouch for their usefulness or quality.

Tyre pressure monitor.

Isofix front seat.

Driver fatigue sensor.

The spare wheel (but read other posts on this)

I have gone for several bits on a Candy White 110 diesel 2wd SE spec. Front and rear flaps at £40 seem to offer good value, although time will tell how effective they are.Spare wheel and heated screen have also on my order.I have had back of front seat tables on my present and previous car whilst the boys have grown up. Even on the day long journeys through France for summer holidays they have seen little, if any use. I have e also ordered the sports seats, although I have not sat in an example. Fabric looks better than the swirly stuff as standard, and they should be better for my back.

Candy white is a good choice of colour.

The picnic tables are "OK" but not fantastic - when up they sit at a slight angle, and the cup holder hole is too small for any cup I have found.

They do have a handy hook underneath for dangling things from though...

My Outdoor has the same spec as yours. I've been driving it since January and these are the extras I had installed - in order of importance (to me):

Spare wheel - I prefer not to risk getting stranded but it does raise the boot floor quite a bit. Not a problem for me and it does make it easier for the dogs to get in and out.

Heated windscreen - brilliant. Clear screen in seconds on a frosty morning. No problems at all about seeing the filaments. Highly recommended.

Driver fatigue sensor - ordered out of curiosity. Hard to tell but I think it may work. Even if it gives the occasional false alarm, it could be a life-saver.

For me (or rather my wife), the must haves were the 1.8T, the HaldexIV 4x4, climate, cruise and PDC.

The nice-to-haves were the sports wheel, sunroof and towbar. But I'd have missed them if they weren't there.

I've removed the raised boot floor as I take the view it's just a bunch of unnecessary weight. If I have to transport stuff, all the rear seats will come out anyway.

Being just 2 of us, I took the rear seats out as they are an unnecessary weight to haul around.

Fair enough. I get that. I've got two children and a dog so tend to run fully seated and guarded.

I don't know what is available, but something to stop the groceries

sliding out of the boot when the rear door is opened.

Like a low, full width rear gate.

Why not use the nets supplied? :)

No nets with my S/H Yeti, should they be standard?

I have spare nets going cheap if you need them...

My essentials, when I bought my second Yeti, were the front & rear parking sensors (again), the spare wheel (again), the electric seat (to get the dimming door mirror) and the heated windscreen (not available when I bought #1). Oh, and the extra speakers 'cos the standard stereo wasn't great.

would that be bird netting :giggle:

Yes; I saw the advert on Twitter.

Partition net screen , useful if transporting items in the boot.

KESSY - actually an option the salesman wasn't to fond of himself. But an option I'm really glad I bought.

Heated windshield or parking heater (winter in Norway with often -20C, it's nice to have a preheated car when driving home from work).

On an SE (which is generally to be sensible with cost) the options worth adding are the spare wheel, auto lights/wipers and the lumbar support for the seats.

(based on my bug-eye Yeti ordering, not sure exact spec on the indoor/outdoor versions)

That's all it needs IMO.

If you are going to start adding expensive things the Elegance makes more sense.

You won't get your money back if you option-up........better to go upmarket model and get some of it back/easier to sell.

Thanks for all this. Will order tomorrow if I get organised. Will definitely be taking all the comments on board.

Heated windscreen is the best option of all, in my opinion.

Go with Candy White - but have your roof and wing mirrors vinyl-wrapped in black: cheap but very effective!

I wonder how a black vinyl wrap would go in full Aussie summer sun.
