Sorry to drag this up again. Just been to the dealer and enquired about continental use in my Xenon-equipped Fabia vRS and have been told it's a job that requires removal of the front bumper, so an hour or two labour (both before and after the trip presumably).

Anyone got any updates on this Audi stick-on solution which seems far more sensible?

Am a little annoyed that the salesman didn't mention that when charging me another

Probably no help but my 2001 Passat is fitted with Xenons. There is a lever behind a rubber bung at the side of each unit for switching to LHD. On the offside you have to remove bits of the air cleaner trunking to get at the bung. I would imagine that the same Xenons are fitted to all VAG cars.

Hello Cheeky' date='

When I went to France last year my VW/ Skoda dealer sold me these for my Fabia vRS with Xenons...

Part number: ZGB6Y0072101 Touring Convertor

The cost was 28.09 + VAT. They are basically plastic headlamp protectors clip ons with strange black light deflecting squares stuck on them which the Xenon light doesn't get through. (Made in Australia!) I used them a lot and could see perfectly well and no one on the continent flashed me...

Hope this helps,

Fantastic - thanks :-)

No problems about them melting then with the headlamps on? I was a bit worried when I read earlier posts in this thread...!

I use them on my std lamps and was not sure if they would work with Xenon lamps, but according to the ETKA they do. The other way would be to do it yourself as it is only a lever inside the headlamp that switches between LHD and RHD beam patterns on the xenon lights.

Doesn't this involve removing the front bumper? A bit beyond my skills I'm afraid lol

You may be able to get away with it. What you would have to do is undo the 3 bolts that hold the lamp in place (you can see them with just the bonnet up). You will then be able to wiggle it about, this may give you enough room to do this. The problem is that xenon lights also have the transformer at the back, and you would have to remove it before you can access the lights.

Given that this will take about 30 mins to do (if it works) and you will have to change back before you got back to the UK, it would probably be easier in the long run to get the converters, as it would only be worth doing on long trips to LHD countries and not a booze cruise.
