  • Sounds like you need another Fabia.                   A nice bathroom green one.

Noo :P the £150 deposit that was left for it when the bloke didn't want to buy meant 3 weeks of free petrol so 1800 miles for free for me!

Lol don't weigh it in rag around the fields

No engine :P

Ive opted to drive the missus car this weekend, gonna flush her coolant system out, and a good service. cant get enough of her 1.4 recently, the mk1's feel so much more robust and well built than the mk2 for some reason!

id definately reccomend sticking with the furby!

It is well put together tbh took a lot of effort to take it apart again :peek:

Personally i can never see the Mk2's lasting as long as the Mk1's already have, my 1.4 MPi had 90k miles on the clock, i changed the timing chain and it ran like new once again, then put up with a hell of alot of abuse till i sold it. the cars in general are pretty bullet proof IMO

Haha, they do feel solid, havent had to take my missus one apart yet, thankfully..

Its so weird driving hers after driving mine tho, because mine is a diesel and hers being petrol, you know my car is idling, hers doesnt even feel like its running when your driving in comparison :D

Gotta love my mk2 tdi though, still a blast to drive, nippy and sounds like a taxi :D

Unless you are an utter pollock and neglect your engine allowing a series of burn throughs in the wiring causing a massive failure!

You could always tell when my 1.2 was running! Dodgy flexi pipe as well as it shaking like hell

haha my wife's runs so quiet (so the fact that im ocd) when the timing chain had the faintest rattle i noticed it and it drove me nuts so i got it changed, garage told me it was barely worn but even they admitted they could hear the difference after and told me that it idles unbelieveably smooth. i have been tempted recently to get rid of my mk2 and get a mk1 lol! a vrs maybe :D

Do it!

Do it!

Only thing that puts me off is that most the mk1 vrs's have been ragged to within an inch of their life! whereas my current mk2 has been driven like a vicars car!

BossFox has one for sale that hasn't been :) to be honest a well used one is probably in better condition than one that's just sat!

Today my work mates were egging me on to test the 172 so at 11:30 I called her up and me and another lad from work hopped in the green Clio put the trade plates in and took it for a test drive, then drove both cars back to the workshop with the owner got it on the ramps had a good check over and it was all good underneath and drove brilliantly! It's a brilliant out of the box package! Shame it didn't have the calf rearing bucket induction mod

A bucket with teats on it as an induction kit?

No understanding have I.

What's the point in spending up to £2000 on a car that I can't drive on a road and will only get used a few times a year?

I thought you said you could get insured on it through your dad's insurance?

Agrees you've got to be able to use it on the road IMO, not many of us can afford a track only car..... Just think about what you want from it and base your plans from there. I'd go for a mixture of good on the road but not too shabby on the track. :) That way you have the best of both worlds!
