Mk1 Fabia 1.8T

Featured Replies

tbh the best thing you can do to lighten it is remove all the stuff you don't need from the 1.8t engine i.e A/C, secondary air injection, ABS etc, but other than that you will struggle unless you light weight panels

Slam pan and crash bar and also the radiator housing plate

The radiator.

That should lighten it a bit.

I'm not meant to do that? I'd better get a nee one and a fuel tank ;)

you will have to cut the hell outa the rad panel anyway to fit a decent size on in. i just used the rad off my vrs and already comes with twin fans. crash bar yes if you don't crash but is useful to hang the cooler off. Manual windows, mirrors and no central locking. in all honesty you would see better results from light weight wheels. I've taken mine as far as i can without spending money by just removing unnecessary parts

Bugger. I should have kept the Ibiza radiator panel :(

well on the fabia's it holds the lights in place and other things, never worked on a Ibiza but guess it would't fit the fab because its got a different front end on anyway

Ah ok.

I'll have to buy a Fabia before I sell more bits so I can see which bits carry and which don't! :)

your conversion will be straight forward, you can transfer everything too the fabia, engine, box, wiring, ecu, door locks, keys, steering column, even the dash if you want it easy

You're right, its too easy. I need to make it more difficult some how...

you will still have to modify alot of the loom to suit the fabia i think but again not sure. just put the engine in the back if you wish to spice things up a little :p

Tis when you haven't even got a loom yet ;)

how about a rad relocation?

WRC body kit and put it in front of a rear arch or something :D

better weight balance and saves weight on the front ;)

Stop tempting me! Mind you I was looking through Fabia wrc pics last night

I remember seeing a snap of the fabia before it was officially revealed in WRC magazine it was in a dull lite garage and boy did it look mean

Yeah I'm quite a fan of the looks as you can see by my ideas earlier on in the thread and it's still an eventual plan to do this with it! 4dedaed966cdba10826d3219a251a6d5.jpg

Have you got your fgf yet?

Nope mate not happening now as Richard thankfully talked sense into me saying no point in spending £500-600 on a valueless car! Looking for one nearer to home needing work or I might just get a van and get rid of the clio

Have you got your fgf yet?

Recovery from London to the end of nowhere, plus MOT, sorting the smashed front end and a VIC test makes it unviable IMO.

For the same money locally Jack could pick up a running car with an MOT.

£500-600 on a valueless car?

but surely you would spend more then that bodging and maintaining the Clio

lets say you spend £100pm on the clio as long as the Fabia is reliable for 6 months, you will have got your money back

Exactly! Was about £300 just for transport

I'm thinking of treating myself to something slightly newer on a 55 plate but it's not a Skoda :(

All in the Clio has cost about £1500 including purchase at £500 and it hasn't broken down this month

so £1000 on the clio....

i would have scrapped it long ago! thats mad!
