HELP MY FABIA IS BROKEN

Featured Replies

Hello, I've recently got a fabia as my first car i love it to bits apart from one problem!

During anytime in the journey, usually when im start stopping in traffic but occasionally when i first start the car up or just after I've put petrol in the engine will just cut out. not stall, cut out silently. I can be in gear or in natural, the revs counter goes quite high (in between 1-2 then plummets and cuts out  and can take up to 3 attempts to restart the car and get going again. I find if i rev it just a little and steady whilst in neutral for a few seconds i can continue on faster. I don't have access to plug my car in so any help would be greatly appreciated! i really don't want to send the car back, i love it so much..... when it's not playing up!

I also know it's starting to get ready for a new timing chain and has recently had a service and past it's MOT. If this makes any difference.

Any lights on dash? Sounds either poor fuel supply to engine or an electrical fault!

Sorry, but they're only golden, not crystal.

Cutting out on an EMS engine needs fault codes to diagnose. Check the VCDS forum for someone near you.

Dont know much about the mpi lump but id clean the throttle body as a starting point

Thanks guys. the steering wheel light and EPC light comes on. ?? no idea!

this is the light that comes on

Does the steering go heavy at this point?

If its those lights its possible the PAS is drawing too much on the battery - which could be a fault in either the PAS, battery, altenator etc

Try checking the voltage on the battery with the engine running and off it should read 14V when running and around 12.3 > 12.4 when off, charge the battery overnight if need be and try again
