Felicia GLXI 1.6 remote central locking

Featured Replies

Good morning to you, I want to fit remote central locking to my 1999 GLXI 1.6 Felicia.  The car has manual central locking on both front doors, what after market kit would you kind people recommend?  I had the oppurtunity to buy a OEM Skoda upgrade kit, but it got snapped up by some one else.  I only want the front doors to unlock remotely, the rear doors do not have the motors in them.

Bought one after market kit, found the wiring behind the dash, but it would not bleeding work.  Have identified all the relevant wiring for the Felicia's manual central locking, but these kits instructions are vague to say the least.

Any suggestions to what make of kit to buy?  I have studied a post on the forums about fitting a Skoda OEM kit, but need help with a aftermarket kit.

All replies most warmly accepted and gratefully received.

we have good eyesight thank you, so no need for big fonts.

as for your question, all aftermarket kits that are not designed specifically for Skoda Felicia will have poor manuals.

so best thing is to post whatever documentation you have from them and to specify the year/month of fabrication of your car.

we'll figure it out where to connect all wires.

if yours has front central locking i'm suprised it doesnt have it on the rear doors too, it would be fairly easy to tap into the central locking wiring as well, it's just one wire for lock and one wire for unlock on most aftermarket kits

Hi there, sorry for the delay in replying.  I have the wiring diagram for the after-market remote central locking kit.  Can you help with what what wires go where to the Felicia's harness.  Also is the Felicia's OEM central locking a positve locking, or a negative locking system?

Its a negative locking you just need the use the brown and blue ones and find the cental locking acc loom and you will find the lock and unlock wires being yellow and black ones not got any think connected to them this way will not work with the door lock but will work as your be useing slave ones 2 wire...

I have fitted the remote central locking kit, and it works!  Many thanks to Dohnjoe and his modified wiring diagram for the kit.  One last thing though, I have not connected the two brown wires from the kit that flash the indicators when you lock or unlock.  According to the Haynes manual for the Felicia, one brown wire goes to the n/s black 10pin connector behind the n/s kick panel and connects to a black/green wire in the connector and the other brown wire goes to the same connector but to black/white wire in the connector.  This is what I have managed to deduct from the wiring diagram in the manual.  I am not sure if I am right though, Dohnjoe would you be so kind as to advise me if indeed I am right or very wrong indeed.

With thanks to every one that has helped me, Mark.

the brown wire is spliced in 2 other brown wires.

according to Hawk wiring there should be one diode on each wire for protection.

we don't want 12V go back into Hawk unit each time we use turning lights or hazard light, don't we...

the easiest is to connect the 2 brown wires to the back of the hazard lights switch.

- one wire to pin 5 (a black/white wire is there)

- one wire to pin 6 (a black/green wire is there)

write down where you connected all wires for Hawk.

you or some mechanic will be happy later.

Many thanks for your reply dohnjoe, I will try your recommendation and let you know how I get on.  On a different subject do you know any thing about fitting electric windows to my Felicia GLXI 1.6?  The car came from the factory with manual windows fitted.  I managed to get the drivers and passenger side window regulators/motors from a salvage yard, also have the OEM window switches that fit behind the gear change in the centre console.  Adurer from poland posted a wiring diagram for me, but it was for the 5 wire window motors.  I have the Bosch 2 wire window motors.  I have worked out the wiring for every thing, but I am unsure if I need a relay for the motors.  Some one told me the Bosch motors have the relay built in to them, I do not know if this is indeed  true.  Also can I wire to the fuse box?  There is a unused fuse at position 18 in the fuse box.  The question is do I need a relay or not?  I am going to attempt to dismantle one of the window motors to see if this is indeed the case concerning the built in relays.

If indeed you can help, I would be extremely grateful.

Do you have a back ground in auto-electrics, you have a most comprehensive knowledge of automotive electrics.  I am very impressed indeed.

Many thanks once again for your most informative knowledge and advice.

PS. I will e-mail Hawk and quite rightly give you the credit for the modified wiring diagram.

I looked on your specific topic but I wanted to give a chance to other members to explain you what to do.

preferably in clear English and using a schematic...

No, but I have a master degree in electronics and automation.
