200-220bhp best turbo?

Forget all this big power talk.

 

If you wanted a Fabia VRS with a nice drivable set up, minimal lag and a wide power band with 200-220bhp which turbo would you go for?

That's GTB1756VK territory I think, not sure what other setup options there are about!

Xman pd170 hybrid, says good for 220bhp so...

All comes down to money though, better turbos to choose from than that.

The turbo dynamics pd130 hybrid (stage 2 md446) I have is pretty good and is a safe clean 197bhp.

There is a slightly newer version available now mdx446 which has a billet compressor wheel which may be suitable for a higher tune.

I'm thinking of getting a switchable tuning system once I fit the pd150 hybrid, so I can keep this map, but have a higher powered map too, so can have some real comparisons :)

It would be interesting to know at what sort of rpm these alternative turbos start making boost as the standard turbo starts to pull at about 1500 to 1600rpm.

Some of the bigger ones need 2500rpm plus before making boost, can make them less drivable I guess?

Exactly, hence my question.

 

A remapped stock turbo VRS will pull 175bhp and have a nice smooth power graph if mapped correctly with minimal lag.

 

You should be able to get another 40bhp or so without much more lag if choosing the right turbo.

Had one for 30000 miles, goes pretty well with 220-230hp

Was smoke free for the first 28k or so but now has randomly become a smoker...

Coskev has one, sure he will be along soon. I can vouch for his aswell goes like stink. Sure the LSD does wonders for it aswell :)

It won't be as they are petrol and this is a pd130 turbo setup!

Little smoke at the beginning but we tweaked it afterwards.

Personally don't believe the torque figure.

Can't imagine it would take much for him to drop a PD130 in. You have to think bigger, this is a Bossfox idea of some kind!

Yeah I think he's saving them ready to transplant the tdi engine from his Audi into it!

They are not horrible, they are rare and exclusive.

Got to say, after having the 1756 for 45k and recently changing to 2260.. The 2260 spools faster.

 

Thats my graph up there and the 2260 is superior lower down and of course higher up the rev range.

 

That map was also adjusted shortly after that graph and it still never spooled as well as it does now!
