hahah while id love to, i dont think there is enough space for all of us! haha barely enough for my Fiesta and the Fabia, will be murder when my landlord is back and parking on the drive!

I only need some water and don't need the car to be parked on the drive...:)

Having popped round to see Taylor tonight I've come to the conclusion he is rebuilding the whole car...

Quite a parts collection. :)

Well done Taylor, nice little project going on here. Anything I can help with, let me know.

Glow plug is spinning in the head..... any ideas?

Sounds like part of the plug has broken off leaving the threaded bit in the head.http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=275452&page=2 if thats the case, then no easy fix, head off drill out and helicoil, fit new plugs.. or if Richard has a good spare head at the right price??

I was thinking the same.

Good used head looks like the way forward.  Cheapy cheap. :)

well in the mean time i fitted coil overs to get the car back on its wheels, however they are a bit low, about a 1" arch gap lol

i am a broken man atm, so much to tidy, clean and do!

still need to do my shopping and sort out dinner for tonight, im feeling a dominos

Thought you didn't want to fit suspension :(

Shame the engine is buggared - get Richards cheap cheap one.

I don't like to Adam but the cv boot was split one side and the wishbone bushes are knackered.

As I booked two days off to work on the csr I didn't want to waste time sitting around nor spend more money having someone else fit it after all I need the head off to get it sorted

Take your time Taylor, it will be a much better car when you finish it and you will enjoy it more whilst doing the work.

all honesty James i was like a pig in the proverbial the past two days till i had the issue with the glow plug!

after that it felt like someone had kicked me in the jewels! its a shame as this needs to be done before Bedford, and i have a limited amount of time i can get off from work plus the combination of my brothers wedding, i feel like im running out of weekends to get it done.

little bit nerve racking but i have about 75% of the parts i need to finish it, just have to redo my work so far, then go on from there. :)

oh well, whats done is done, just have to crack on to get her finished :D

You have a tight schedule there mate, with the glow plug is it possible to use an easy out to get it out? or is the thread buggered? Never done one myself.

I have to have the Golf back for next weekend at Blyton, so far it is still in pieces, exhaust is not done yet and the boost pipes are still to be done, turbo is on, manifold and intake manifold too and all the petrol side of things is done too. I am hoping to return off holiday on Friday and collect it on Saturday for the ride to Blyton Saturday night.

Last Minute . com    heres hoping it is all ok

haha so were both in the same boat!

Other way to sort the broken glow plug in the head is to remove it and have it spark eroded away and then chase the thread with a tap to clean it up.

Sorry Taylo,r old age catching up its the glow plugs not injectors ignore below.

Taylor just had another look at this, it may not be so bad, according to some of the images the injectors are possibly push fit with two o rings sealing them, difficult without seeing them. they may have had a plate or the fuel rail pressing on them, if so give them a good pull/twist or try and push/twist them out once the head is off. use plenty of lube but you know that already ;)

Progress!

So getting to london for 6am, then starting work at 6:30, the cylinder head was stripped off from the car by 8, and i was determined to see if i could fix it, low and behold a gentle tap with a nylon mallet and a fine screwdriver (couldnt find my centre punch) and the bleeder popped out 2ft across the floor!!!

:D

So i checked out the threads about 80% was fine just the first few were damaged, i picked some of the debris out, then the replacement plug screwed right in! Happy days!

So not a penny was needed to have it machined or spark erroded or anything! :D I was very lucky with this :)

Got it all back together, had a few faffs and couldnt find the EGR feed pipe (till i realised it was in a different box of parts) then had it all back together, timing belt was even easier 2nd time around!

Had trouble catching straight away as there was a fair bit of brake/carb cleaner in the intake manifold, but after it got it out, it started :D

I also fitted the 312mm Brembo Discs today with Ferrodo 2500 Pads, so should stop nicely now!

All of it was finished by 6pm, so id say that about 10 hours work (ok i had quite a few breaks) i stripped it down, cleaned it again, repaired the head, refitted it and refitted all assorted parts then fitted my new front brakes. Quite busy and i thought was quite quick too for an Amateur Mechaninc!

really pleased with the progress today, unfortunately driving home i became stationary in traffic on the A2, outside lane and a 1 Series BMW decided to test my Citigos brakes. So after the exchange of details, i now need a new/repair'd rear bumper on the Citigo.

So back to the Fabia, work to do is as follows:

Get the car home

Fit RARB

Fit rear coilovers, currently ive only fitted the fronts and it looks like a door wedge! :D
