VCDS - is this official

Featured Replies

When I collected my superb. I had requested that the electric tailgate was setup to close as well as open using the button inside the car.

It didn't, so I showed then the post on here ( http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/270136-superb-combi-electric-rear-door-closing-from-inside-the-cabin/#entry3193685 ) showing the steps via VCDS.

The dealer told me that the VCDS was not official and is a "hack"

Where can I get a VCDS? and how much should it cost?

Depends how you look at it, from a dealers point of view I suppose they may say it was a "hack" it is not official VAG diagnostics, we all know different ;)

as it's not official VAG I suppose the dealer can say very little about it..

Take a look at the map in my signature and see if there is someone local to you who has it.

VCDS (HEX+CAN) is approx £260

hey so I have it (been a lifesaver over the years).

I'm out of the country at the moment, but am based in dublin (and will be in Kilkenny the august bank holiday weekend) if thats of use?

also, as a note, they should be able to do this via the dealer standard bosch tool (its just a module recode), so while they may refuse to so it with VCDS, they should certainly be able to do it with their own kit. note that they may choose not to do it if it invalidates the warranty
