New car christened

Recommended Posts

So we've had our new L&K 170CR DSG in Petrol Blue and Ivory for three weeks. Today it was christened by child 2 barfing all over the back and child 1 "accidently" drawing on the back of the seat in blue biro. Delightful.

So, assuming we can get all the sick out of the rear centre console and wet vac the interior we're probably ok.... but anyone got any top tips for the biro?

Oh no. First thing to try is standard leather cleaner to see if it will lift biro ink off, if not taking it to a leather specialist is best, as anything stronger is likely to cause damage. They may end up painting it.

As for the sick, occupational hazard of having children ;). Worst one I had was when I was taking back a new range rover that I had for an extended test drive for the day. Twenty minutes out and about 30 minutes before they closed, youngest in rear facing child seat decided to be sick. I ended up calling and saying that I'm running late and I'll bring it back first thing. ;)

Good luck with getting it sorted.

Hairspray, it worked for us on a chair but I don't know how it will affect your leather though.

Ouch.

The pen should come off reasonably easy enough with a good all purpose cleaner and continued gentle rubbing and a good antibacterial cleaner for the seats. I use Valet Pro Enzyme Odour Eater as it kills off the bacteria and the food source it's great all round cleaner too, then treat the seats with a good fabric guard to reduce the damage that may get caused in future by those delicate little darlings.

For Biro I have found baby wipes, removes almost anything; god knows what it doe to the little chaps bot! :0(

Six months and I think my car is holding a christening party: front tyre pot holed and ruined week 1, front wheels Kerbed twice, yesterday some kind ( probably a lady shopping ) looks like a shopping bag scratch drivers side.

Still not sure what to do about the wheel, limited choice, buy new wheel, recut diamond finish £130 + vat or powder coat all wheels.

Maybe a Sherman tank next.

Take the squab seat out and clean the residuals,

Being leather it should've resisted the puke so hopefully it's not absorbed it, trick with puke is use cold water on it's own, nice saturated cloth rung out loosely wiped over it a few times should pull it all out for you, don't use warm as it breeds bacteria and don't use chemicals as they react with the puke and create an odour,

The biro I'm not sure of, I'd try clean water first though and move onto a suitable stain devil after that if it doesn't wipe off.

Hi,

Sorry to hijack the thread, but I have just ordered the same spec and colour combination and would be greatfull of a couple photos to make sure I've made the correct choice as I haven't seen a petrol blue car.

Andy.

I would be using the 30day/1000 mile exchange policy??

Try and get a new one.

Sorry thread hijack but have been told (Progress Skoda) that there has to be a fault with the car for this policy to be effective... It seems that each dealer has their own wording...?

It was a joke??

I was implying that you go back to the dealer and make out the car has just "developed a bad smell"??

Hmmm, not sure how to attach pictures? Anyhoo, here's a couple from when we first got the car. I think the blue has lovely highlights in the sunshine and works very well with the ivory interior.

Only problem with the ivory is that it shows marks much more easily than black - we'd have gone for that if it was an option.

I love that petrol blue....if its still offered in a few years and if I go for another Superb I think that will be the colour I would opt for.  I sort of overlooked it this time for some reason.

Hi Jonathan. Once the seats are clean of any, erm human debris, Lol. Give them a wipe over with a leather cleaner and then seal with a leather sealant (ie Gtechniq L1 or similar), this will massively help reduce the leather staining and dye crossing (ie blue from jeans, etc...) over. Will also help look after the leather and add UV protection.

heh - human debris seems to be pretty much removed! however we *are* getting blue from jeans so thanks for the tip. I've got leather cleaner and feed, but will look up the sealant too.

re: petrol blue, we'd come from (I think) nightfire blue on our previous Superb mk1 which we also loved. The petrol blue is a little less bold, but still different to most of the cars on the road.

I was referring more that there seems to be different versions of the Skoda used car return policy wording... some infer that you can just return the car for whatever reason, within 30 days and 1000 miles whereas other wording states there has to be a fault with the car... Hence thought that you thought the same, that you could just return it...

Il get me coat....:-)

I too would have ordered Black interior, because Dk Brown would look awful IMO.

Lovely looking car
