Not bothered about the extra 4inches that the Octavia is over my Golf...............you might just like "bigger is better" but I prefer handling.............. my Golf has the same multi link rear suspension as the Golf GTI & R (also on standard -15mm sports suspension)....when I looked at the same spec engine in the Octavia it only came with the old beam/trailing arm suspension....................

Your not wrong there, but I'm pleased to see that you now prefer handling. As an enthusiast, handling is one of the important things that I have being trying to convey to you and I hope your mate also values this handling more now too

The prices are up by about £500-ish depending on model and spec. The spec is pretty much as before, except full LED lighting is standard and the auto box is now anticipatory ie it is linked to the satnav so can make predictive changes early. The advanced lighting option adds voodoo black magic to the lights as they can not only steer around corners, but split beams around the car in front so not to dazzle it and as cars approach the offside beam dips to keep the light 'cut off' just in front of the vehicles it nears. Clever stuff if it works Other than that there are a few new engines in the smaller sizes including some interesting looking 3 cylinder ones

 

PCP has gone up 1% APR and the dealers get £2,250 support from BMW on the M135. this will go up as the year progresses no doubt. So I would say that you aim for at 11% minimum off an M135 and if you get more then you have an excellent deal.

Yeah, I was bashing away at my knob all the way home in the car last night.... But sadly no joy. The two zones remain stubbornly independent. Lol

Is it too late to cancel and get a Golf R?

 

Seriously, I'm reckoning on a mid May delivery and then, because of work, not getting the first 1,200 miles done until the end of July, so it will be nearly August before I can play properly. Seems a long way away at the moment :( I just want to see one in the flesh. I suspect I will like the front, but it's a shame they have changed the rear just for the sake of it. It had one of, if not the most, recognisable back end of any hatch in current production I reckon.

I dated a guy with a XK6 for a short while. If I'm honest I think I just saw him for his car It was a lovely engine and amazingly smooth in those days. Bet it would still impress today
