hope you don't mind me posting all this guff in our thread Tom, but I got my car back from the detailers and the result is superb. Super shiny and ultra reflective. The coating has teeny flecks of gr

Not yet,options open me thinks.

The difficulty in making a RHD conversion with this engine pretty much rules it out. not sure if anything will change when they bring out the M140i next year, which is a new engine. Almost certainly not worth tooling up imho as this is the last of the RWD 1ers anyway. pretty sure there will be 4x4 variants of the next 1er as they can carry over a lot of the X1 hardware. As I've posted before, it's the end of a relatively brief era :(  if only the 3 series wasn't so ruddy long and no doubt the next version will be longer still.

I'm waiting for a Pink Micra turbo 4x4 with afterburners :) Just kidding.....about the PInk bit

It is - it's got that ugly overwrought squinty front and breadvan styling - it HAS to be a BMW.  Having said Adrian van Hooydonk's efforts are better than Chris Bangle's...

Just out of interest does anyone else think vH has a look of Hitler about him these days???

I used to hate Bangled cars, but in the same way I got used to the look of the Yeti and eventually liked it to the point I was disappointed with it's facelift, I quite like a touch of BMW 'flame surfacing'. Audi make smarter looking cars imho, but BMW make more interesting looking cars. I like Marmite too :)

To my eyes the front of the LCi looks better, but They have lost a bit of original character with the rear light treatment :( And why they can't do some more colours is beyond me.

Now you're talking!

Yeah I suppose they are 'interesting' just a bit too 'designed' for my liking!

Put a new 3 series next to a C-class and the Merc wins hands down for me...  same for the 5 and an E but only just...

I love the front and sides of the new C Class, but the rear lights look a little odd to me, not as odd as the CLA but still a bit odd. I like the looks of my current outgoing C350 cdi which has a bit of AMG bodykit bits on it. Classically proportioned and quite good looking imho. The new Jag XFR looks very nice though :) :)

Agree with ALL of that - except the bit re the rear lights - I quite like em!

I would forgive the rear lights if they were fitted to a proper AMG :)

Looks like VW are doing the Audi thing of petrol engine/4wd = DSG only!!!............... :wall:

I wonder how many BMW's will go the same way i.e auto only for high performance petrol's?

Boy you have a serious inferiority complex. Why are you so defensive of every single aspect of your car? I don't care if you bought a car cash, what's it prove? Possibly you don't understand the value of finance? I own my own house and run two cars. I have over £8k of DSLR camera equipment, a lot more Audio/Video equipment, I have lots of shoes and boots, so what??????? Are we having a pi$$ing competition?? I didn't buy an R because I wanted an M135i. I certainly didn't buy a GT, because if I wanted a Golf I would have bought the R. You profess that 'manual' is the true way, yet eschew the fact that RWD is just a salient a point in that premise. Go and buy an R (with cash if you think it is important) and put us all out of your misery.

had a good day where I made money to buy my next car. I worry that you are the modern Skoda equivalent of the Civic Type R troll??

Sorry that should be a Civic type S troll and Civic type R wannabe

I have lots of shoes and boots

That looks like top trumps to Amanda.

Unless fabdavrav wants to come back and admit that he's got more? If he had then no doubt they'd not be on PCP or PCH etc though? :p

Anyway, let's try not to turn every thread into a 'my car is better than yours' one as this is a thread about M135i's!

Had a bad day?    My response was to ridicule yours. My mother is the Church organist, so I must know about Religious music I guess    Btw I have run my own business longer than you :p I love your Top Trumps game

But back OT I don't intend to buy a Quaife diff. I bought the car I wanted first time. If I wanted the LSD on this car, I would probably have waited for the M2 as the car I bought is NOT an M model.

Your exhaust landed yet Tom?

That looks like top trumps to Amanda.

He did :peek: I may have to start a 'aren't Golf GT's rubbish' thread, to keep him out of this one.

I thought in a post way back you were going to fit a Quaife (after I mentioned that Birds install the kits)...........??..........I know I would, on a RWD car, need it for the winters up here as well as the winter tyres.................& for the back roads...................sideways............... ...or not

This is what gets me................the car is badged with an "M"& has loads of "M" badges all over the bloody car, & on the start up screen (I know it shows it) on the MFD in the binnacle.............

If it's not a true "M" but is badged as an "M" is this the BMW version of Audis "S-Line" or VW "R-line" where it looks similar to the genuine article but it is just "mild" version & not the "hot" item?

I do notice that BMW UK do not list the M135I under the "M" section of their website, but under the 1-series section.........so I suppose that confirms it, its not a true "M"......................

& there's me thinking it was with all those badges................

Blah blah blah, did you have your teddy taken from you by a school bully when you were younger? I am not sure why you invent all these things so you can fit in your own agenda and try to bash the M135. You have been told repeatedly that the M135 is not an M car. I might even bother to count up the number of times, but most people understand after being told once. I don't keep reminding you that you bought a pretend R Golf, as I know your GT isn't the real thing.

Are you fooled by ever BMW M Sport you see too? For someone who seems to consider themselves well read in motoring terms, you seem to have missed out on BMW literature. Although I am sure you have a 'friend' who has an M3/M4/M5/M6 and you have driven all of them and know everything about them too. except you don't. Yes you would need winter tyres up there blah blah blah. So instead of talking about it, do something. Oh I forgot, you are the type that reads stuff and talks about it as if they have real life experience. Top Trumps has a lot to answer for.

Actually M-Sport is the equivalent of S-Line but I am sure I will have to tell you this again several times once you start your dull passive aggressive BMW bashing posting once more.

Don't worry, not everyone is cut out to handle a powerful RWD car, it isn't a slur on your manhood.

It's not a true M car. It's an "M-performance" vehicle. So slots in below a full fat M-car and above the M-sport trim spec. Kind of a sub-M motor. Cracking value tho compared to a full M-car. The sub-M part is the reason a lot of owners refer to the car affectionately as an "M-lite".... :-)
