Thanks Tom and Lady E. Just the kind of answer I was looking for.

Cayman S would be a 987, 981s are out of my price bracket.

Not a driving god, I drive within my abilities, so usually within any car I have owned.

Tough decisions but I will take my time

I have to say that I love the Cayman and if it wasn't the fact I want nearly new or new cars and could also get a great deal, I would be so tempted by a Cayman. They sound great, but all flat 6's do :) It's is certainly a car that carries around a sense of occasion with it imho  I think the latest ones look stunning in white :)

Tom,

Was wondering if the eventual replacement for the M135i will eventually have an estate derivative .(Any rumours? yes I know it will be a 4 pot 2 ltr when it arrives.)

Has any time frame been placed on the Face lifted M135i?

Or do you think an estate (Touring) will be left to the New 3 series.

Well it's here Tom......sort of. It's made it to the dealers and Nigel bless him, sent me a nice walkaround the outside video. no engine running noises though :D At least externally it looks like the right car.

Looks like Tuesday might be on then :) And then I can go and park it up for 3 weeks in a car park :D

new ones are nice but I could very easily live with an original Cayman S :)

Also looking for a replacement for my car;

Had an Audi S1 - was great but expensive for a small car

Drove Fiesta ST - Good but not exciting really and not impressed with the looks

Test Drove Leon Cupra 280 - Good, fun, practical and reasonable but not sure !!

Havent tried the M135 but is next to consider - Is anyone aware of any good deals on these at the moment?

New or nearly new I guess?

if you go to the website called BabyBMW and search for TRL of Berrys (London) you will find Tony, a manger of a BMW dealer down South. He shells M135is out for almost cost. He must do incredible numbers as many, many forum members have bought fro him. His figures will give you a figure to aim for at your local dealer. But you should be looking for double figures of some sort in discount %. Secondhand, might become slightly cheaper now the facelift has arrived and probably represent better value for money as the Facelift improvements don't really improve the driving experience (how could they :D).

Really appreciate that  - what are they like to live with in terms of MPG and running costs?

May look at the option of second hand depending on the comparison of figures

Furbytom is your man for those facts and figures. I don't take delivery until Tuesday :D According to the forum regulars they get anything from 'rubbish' to high 30's quite regularly and many get 40+ on motorway runs (sticking to speed limits helps). I'm looking to get the service pack to avoid any unexpected service bills. it does use 50% more spark plugs than the other cars you mentioned of course :)

To be fair the economy is on a par with the S1 and Cupra.

Bet you cant wait till Tuesday - think I will need to go and test drive one.

Luckily I am manically busy with work, so for the bulk of the day I don't get a chance to think about it :D

Would I want the satellite  auto control system on the face lifted Auto box , too detract from my driving experience in  the new M135i, around a nice series of S's / flowing corners or cross country drive.?

Any review /reports available.

The revised manual box sounds better for me.

Would I want a 6 speed when the 8 speed is quicker and more economical. Er no. Would I switch the predicative gearchange off if I didn't like it. er yes. Life can be so hard sometimes.

Actually Merc are developing the clever San Nav linked gearchange to improve economy by lifting off just before hill tops in cruise and such like. It's probably a lot more complicated than that to implement, but if means I get to keep driving a car with a proper engine and not an electric or hybrid 4 pot, then I am all for it

Have fun.

Remember, ask the Salesperson what they set the Tyre Pressures at for the PDI.

Then later check and set them yourself, unless he / she offers to check them before you leave.

Ask if they put in 95 ron Unleaded, and do the think that running Super Unleaded 97 or 99 makes any difference.

After all Premium Cars and Premium Salespeople, you want Premium Service.

Its just me being sad, i like to wind them up.

Going for the handover in a couple of hours. Reckon it will take at least an extra hour with the BMW genius to set up the remote facilities and office suite gubbins.

Still out driving? Must be good....... ;-)
